Nice guy. Came and put up curtain rods in a couple of rooms that have sheet metal in the wall which is normally not an easy task. Put up hold backs as well. Was very quick at his job. Even helped put up the curtains. Was on time and was eager to get the job done as fast as possible which is really nice because I don’t need someone coming in a dragging butt.

I booked the project with OSA just one week before I moved in my new condo. There are plenty of jobs needed to be done, like install all appliances, replace old vanity, replace all old valves, replace new toilet, install new lights, put floor tile and wall tile in my bathroom, and so on. Thankfully, OSA finished all projects before the day I moved in with high work quality, I really appreciate it. Also, they are very trustful, I gave my home key to them so they can come any time to do the work. I would definitely recommend OSA to all my friends who needs to do electricity, plumb job for their house or condo.

I highly, highly recommend Steve for your concrete needs. I had an issue with my foundation and I didn't know much about it. Steve helped me brainstorm the pros/cons. Provided a WRITTEN quote and invoice in a timely manner (super rare in my experience). Unlike a lot of contractors, was very professional and real. Didn't try to be my best friend on day one and leave a mess until it was convenient for them to come back and clean up. Happy to provide recommendation regarding any structural concrete work.

We needed railings put back onto our front porch after having our steps repointed and and a step replaced (this also required a hole to be drilled into the new stone step). Our previous contractors ditched us before finishing. Paul was great. He responded quickly and gave us what we thought was a fair price for the work. He was able to get over to do the work within a few days, and did a great job. He also helped us with some plumbing issues while he was here. He is easy to work with, communicates well, and does solid work. I'd highly recommend him.

Fantastic service! Roque was professional, courteous, and easy to work with. He and Josh restored and painted my ceiling after some water damage caused by the unit above. Not only did they do a terrific job, but he was very friendly, communicative, and flexible, especially considering that he had to coordinate with a 3rd party (the unit above) to pay for the service. After 8 weeks of trying to get this done with other contractors of various levels of incompetence, rudeness, and unreasonable rates, Roque was a breath of fresh air. Within a business week, I had an honest estimate and a job completed. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with professionals of this caliber. I plan to hire them for another project in the near future.

Dave tore out an old half-wall in our entryway, and built a replacement wall in a different location that worked better for us. Dave was outstanding to work with -- very responsive, incredibly hard-working, very friendly, and with great attention to detail. And his work was beautiful. We would definitely hire him again.

I was extremely pleased with my experience. Artem came in the morning to check out the project and it was finished that day. Aside from replacing my bathroom vanity, he also patched a hole in the wall and offered to paint and hang up my bathroom mirror. I will definitely be calling him back in the future.

Price competitive with other contractors. Showed up on time and finished on time. Other contractors (painter, electrician - way more experience than me) have commented on quality of plastering job.

As a real estate professional and homeowner I look for quality workmanship, dependability and a fair price when I need a contractor for my own home improvements or to recommend to my clients. Troy always met or exceeded my expectations, and I can trust his opinion and recommendations for myself and my clients. He had high professional and ethical standards which adds value in my book!

I had a bunch of contractors give me quotes and I chose Handy and Some (Sean) because I felt he was upfront and honest about what the cost and length of time would be. He was on time and gave me many choices that I could have for my deck. I felt he wasn't trying to sell me on anything. With his help, I went with composite decking. Had him relocate the stairs and add lattice. The other contractors, some being more expensive were late to the appointment, couldn't start till next year, didn't give me many options on what type of decking I could have or didn't show up to give me a quote. Sean actually went beyond what we agreed on and with no cost added, gave me a beautiful deck. He also redid the front porch for me. He told me it would take 2-3 weeks to complete and true to his word, it was completed. I plan to hire him again for future projects. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend him to anyone looking for contractor. I added before and after photos.

Very good experience with Northeast Construction. Finally some one who was able to replicate the trim I needed done! A few other contractors tried but couldn't replicate some trim I needed for my fireplace. Brandon assured me they could do it and even told me if they couldn't do it to my satisfaction I would not have to pay. Very professional and very good work.

Adonias was very easy to work with. He is friendly, creative, and flexible. He has a very busy company, so sometimes my projects took longer than expected, but he is good about communicating. Eagle7 remodeled two bathrooms for me (I will upload pictures after I finish cleaning and organizing them). They took out two fiberglass shower/tub units, built a new tub with tile surround and a tiled walk-in shower with glass door. They replaced sinks and countertops, replaced flooring (tile in one, vinyl plank in the other), repaired some plumbing, replaced fan/light combos, and built out walls where needed. In addition, Adonias and his crew helped with a few extra requests as they came up, without complaint. We were updating most of our house this month, so there were many contractors in and out, a dog, kids, and general chaos. The crew took it all in stride, they were patient and worked around our schedule. Prices were very reasonable, and they worked with me to think through what could be salvaged/reused to minimize costs. Adonias also sourced materials as needed, not overbuying or upcharging. Highly recommend Eagle7.

XCC did a perfect job installing my hardwood floors in two large rooms. There were lots of complications with rooms being out of square, un-level surface around the fireplace due to mortar, and border patterns with different wood, and insets. All of it came out perfectly and with very little wood waste (way less than other contractors would have done). Xavier and his crew also did a great job replacing my damaged sub-floors throughout the entire house - a task that no other contractors were willing to take on. Xavier and his crew always worked hard and are very pleasant to be around. They have wide knowledge and skill sets and are willing and able to do anything you might need. No lazy-bones or burn-outs in this crew!

My project had changes along the way, but they only made the results even better. I had a vision of what I wanted and he and his team made it a reality. The quality of the work is not only solid but I can rest easy knowing I have a room i can be proud of and enjoy for many years to come. The people he works with for electrical, masonry and landscaping work were all professional and thorough as well. Kudos to all. What a difference!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
