I hired Stephen last summer to install a screen door on the front door of the house. The door was not designed to have a screen door, so he had to design a frame build out to accommodate the screen door and handle the stress of the door opening and closing. He did a great design, made the build out look like part of the original door frame, and installed the door. Terrific job and a great person to work with. I'm already building out my list of other jobs I need done on the house and will definitely be calling Stephen to get them done.

Joe was absolutely fantastic. He showed up on time, outfitted with all he would need to mount my two TVs. When he arrived he had me show him both TVs and both walls. Immediately he informed me that the mounts I bought would work from one location in the house but not for the other. He diligently went to work mounting the first TV for which he used the mount that I had purchased off amazon. The mounting was quick and it was perfectly placed. As for the second TV, Joe was so great that he drove from South Boston back to his home in Beacon Hill to get another mount that would work for that space. Joe returned with the new mount, installed it quickly, and positioned it perfectly. Even with having to drive 30 minutes round trip in the middle of the job, Joe still charged me the agreed upon rate. In an age where most people are looking to only do the minimum and then charge the maximum Joe really impressed me. Joe knows his stuff, and definitely the best choice in Boston if you are looking for home theater or TV mounting expertise. Thank you Joe you reinstilled my faith in people, and using sites such as Thumbtack!

We cut down trees in our yard and wanted to keep a little something of the past with us now. We asked if Neil could trim down an oak log into a mantle for our fireplace. Neil gave us a great quote, was at our house the next day for pickup, did the project over the weekend (mind you, it was a holiday weekend) and dropped it off at our house when we were home. The project was done in a few days. So quick and great work. Very knowledgeable and responsive. Overall all, very pleased! Thanks

Let me start by saying that I wish I could give Wayne 10 stars, but since I only have the option of 5, that will have to do. Our house is over 100 years old and we are preparing to paint the exterior again. Needless to say, we had quite a "honey do" list of odd repairs that needed attention. Clapboards that were broken or rotting, the railings on the front porch were falling apart, back stairs pulling away from the house, decorative trim that was rotting, brick foundation in need of repointing, new exhaust vents, and finally new doors. Wayne responded to my initial request in record time and stopped by later that day to give me an estimate. Of all the contractors interviewed, he was the only one that completely outlined the work needed with a full materials list and cost breakdown. Others were quite vague and wanted to repair or replace more than was necessary, turning the job into something larger than it really was. That is why I decided to hire Wayne, his straightforward honesty and winning personality sealed the deal. Wayne and his crew started the job immediately and completed it in good time. They cleaned up the yard after and disposed of all the waste materials as well. Earlier I mentioned the decorative trim, he had this ingenious product that was able to halt the rot and preserve as much of the original wood as possible because there would be no way to replicate the trim without spending a ton. This technique was also used on my kitchen bay window, which ended up saving me a fair amount of money in that area. Wayne also went out of his way to find a great deal for my porch door, I described what I wanted and he took care of the rest. Wayne also offered to come back and replace any clapboard that was questionable once the painter gets started. The other area where he excelled was the masonry. I actually contemplated doing the job myself, I'm so happy that I came to my senses and left that up to Wayne. He truly went above and beyond expectations. The brick foundation including the cement pad really needed help. Wayne fixed the grout as well as re-cemented the gap between the foundation and the pad, now when it rains really hard or when snow melts, the basement won't flood. Wayne had really good instincts and advice about tackling the different elements of our project. He approached the job as if he was the homeowner with a budget wanting to spend money wisely. I'm telling you, I can't say enough good things about Wayne and his crew at L & K Construction. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Jairo and his helper did a fantastic job of putting together a complicated piece of exercise equipment and also carried a large piece of furniture down to my basement. They did their work quickly and accurately and were very customer oriented, even taking the packing material out to the curb for trash pickup. I highly recommend JFTechnical Services for any type of equipment or furniture assembly.

Jeff has demonstrated his experience and skill level in his field. He set the bar high for all carpenters. I would definitely consider him for future projects. Thank you, Jeff.

Dave was great to work with, I did not know what i was looking for in lighting in my living room the only lights we had were lamps and the room was very dark. Dave come out to look at our job and to see if we wanted to install two over head lights or go with recessed can. he had a LED recessed light in his truck he showed us we liked that look. We ended up having Dave put in 6 - 5" recessed on a dimmer . after the job was complete the light was great so bright and they look like they had been there the hole time and my house was cleaned up. Yes I have had Dave back to my house for other work. Michelle

Can I give them 10 stars?? We had a bathtub and tub surround removed and a walk-in tile shower built in its place. First of all, I appreciated that Jon didn't balk at a smaller job. I can't tell you how many places won't even give you an estimate unless you're gutting an entire room. Jon came by within a day of my contact call, and he had great ideas. I am not good at envisioning things so his ideas and pictures were very helpful. Scheduling was great. He even worked around an unexpected visit by relatives in my home. The work was excellent. They came and went and worked away and we hardly knew they were in the house. At the end of each day, whether they were there for an hour or 5 hours, they cleaned their way out of the house and left everything in fantastic shape. Usually that area of a house is a small disaster while work is being done and until the job is finished. Not so with Top of the Ladder. That was huge for me. The finished job was all I had hoped for and more. Jon answered every question, explained every step of the process, addressed every concern and, again, cleaned everything as they exited the job and the house, down to washing my bathroom floor and the stairs. They did the demolition, the plumbing, the wallboard, the tiling. He referred us to Action Glass for the doors and was spot on with his recommendation for a job well done. AND his price was extremely reasonable. I honestly dreaded taking on this project, unsure about my ideas, the mess, would I like it, etc. I would definitely contact Top of the Ladder and Jon Lewis for any other projects we decide to tackle in our home. They are not only Top of the Ladder, they are top of the line in quality. I think it's important to say that I found Top of the Ladder through an ad. I did not know Jon or any of his workers. He's not a relative or a friend of a friend. My recommendation for this service is based purely on the work done in my home.

Dave Matkowski and his dp electric team have been very responsive and helpful. dp electric inc. helped us with a kitchen remodel, they did the track lighting and some unique lights in an exposed loft area. When it comes down to bending the pipes and the design of everything they did a fantastic job. The design itself was great. We definitely had some mistakes along the way they but they stood up and took care of them and came back to make sure it was done. Our first time using them but we would return.

We just moved into a new home and needed to purchase new speakers for our surround sound, have eveything wired and hooked up, and to have the speakers installed in the ceiling plus one one the wall. I first consulted reviews and Matt's were all five stars.. Now I know first hand exactly why. The installation was flawless in every regard. Matt is punctual, professional, neat, and thorough. He went the additional mile with us reprogramming our Comcast remote to be almost a uiversal remote (minus a feature or two, but it was free). We are extrmely happy with the finished product and with Matt. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Home Theater Solutions did an excellent job mounting my TV. They were able to schedule their service the next day, the two serviceman behaved professionally, they were careful to level the TV, they hid the cords behind the wall by feeding them through the insulation, they installed two wall covers for the cords, they reconnected all of the components and made sure everything was working properly, and they cleaned up the work site when they were finished. The cost of Home Theater Solutions service was amongst the lowest of all of the Thumbtack estimates so I recommend hiring them.
