Introduction
Hello! I am currently welcoming new beginning-intermediate level students for lessons at my Lowell, MA studio. For young beginners, I teach with “Music Moves for Piano,” a dynamic approach that gives them the tools to think and understand music, and lots of activities, including movement, to keep them engaged. Music Moves for Piano is rooted in Edwin Gordon's philosophy of Music Learning Theory and follows the natural language-learning process. Mill City Music Studio is located at Appleton Mills in the burgeoning Hamilton Canal District of Lowell. It is a comfortable, open-plan, air-conditioned live-work loft. I have been teaching music in many capacities since 2003. This includes private piano lessons as well as college class piano, music theory, and musicianship. My music degrees include a bachelor from the Berklee College of Music, a master from the San Francisco Conservatory, and a PhD from University of Oregon.

What can I say? Well the rate "outstanding," is what this Professor, tutor, Instructor deserves. But I don't believe the word "outstanding," should end there. There are loads of words to describe this Professor in my opinion....Magnificent, remarkable, noteworthy, virtuoso. The list can keep going. The experience of being a student in his class was astonishing. My mind opened greatly in the world of music when I studied under him and I can say this to the students who were studying under him can agree with me as well. His dedication of teaching to those who have a very rough time with a chapter for example is extraordinary. He doesn't give up, he makes time and answers your questions no matter how late the night is. You will learn very much for those who are taking him as your professor. Meets all the requirements, always on time to give in assignments, as well as grading them. I wish for someday to be in his class again. I tell all of my friends on how this professor is the one you should study under and I am telling you, the future students who wish to take music theory, this is the Professor for you. The only bad part I can say is that...the semester ended! Till this day I still study the notes he gave me in class. First rate stuff.

Excellent teacher for those who wish to study classical music. Aaron's pedagogy is especially well-considered for young and beginner students - talk to him about early music learning and you'll find he has extremely well-researched and well-considered opinions on the topic. As for myself I began studying as an adult with (somewhat) a jazz/pop background, mainly playing bass among my peers. I had attempted classical music with a few pieces, but my progress and reading were very flawed and slow. After two years of study with Aaron I can safely say I have learned a lot more music a lot more music - and a lot more about the classical/legit mentality - that I would've ever learned in many more years of studying by myself. With this understanding I've been able to expand my repertoire in a way that, two years ago, would probably not seem possible or reasonable. Would recommend.

Aaron was terrific with our headstrong 8-year old. He worked with our son to find songs that interested and excited him to practice, and kept a smile and sense of humor at each lesson. I would recommend Aaron as a piano teacher to anyone!

As a student of music composition, Aaron helped me to gain insight into my own compositional techniques and processes. He then introduced me to new techniques which helped me to create more cohesive, focused, and meaningful music. I would highly recommend Aaron as a music teacher with both a great depth of knowledge and a wonderful sense of humor.
