Steve has been helping us with some long-needed home repair work. He has re-screened our porch, replaced our corner boards on the home, cleaned out our gutters (up three stories in the back, and then hopped across the roof!!!), replaced the downspouts, replaced some clapboards, and is currently replacing sills and window trim on all of our windows. His work has been outstanding, and he is the nicest gentleman, always polite, knowledgable, and helpful with providing cost-saving pointers. I have already been recommending him to others, and am looking forward to having him back to do some interior work for us in the Fall.
Andrew did several jobs for me, such as repairing my front threshold that had rotted. He did a very nice job and it looks great. He took great pains to do it correctly. He also did several "fix it" repairs, such as wiggly wooden cellar stairs, replaced a bolt lock, adjusted doors that were very hard to close, fixed some broken floor and wall tiles, etc. The major job was painting a good sized bedroom that needed both window and wall repair. He did a very nice job. Andrew worked efficiently and the price was very fair. He is a very nice person to have working in your home. I highly recommend him.
Marc was easy to coordinate with and priced the A/C window unit installation very competitively.
Jeff was great. He was the first to respond to my request, and provided me with a fair quote. I was so glad that he was able to come out on Christmas Eve. He arrived during the window in which he promised, and was fast and professional. Job well done.
We decided to upgrade our home interior by painting and replacing all the interior doors. We used Thumbtack and within hours had 6 or 7 contractors want to quote on the project. We turned down a couple simply because their backgrounds didn’t look to fit our needs. We ended up with 5 looking at the project and offering quotes. Once we had the quotes and asked a few questions we ended up with two contractors, not because of pricing which was very close across the board within 15%. We chose John Pepper because of his background, personality, pictures of past projects, and willingness to answer questions about our project. Once we awarded the project John offered to go with us to pick out and purchase the doors. I offered additional compensation for this activity since it wasn’t listed in the scope of work and he assured us he felt it was part of the job. The project took 8 days. Each day he arrived on time, worked all day, and cleaned up and the end of the day so not to inhibit our lives any more than need be. In fact, we keep our 1-year-old granddaughter two days a week and he arranged his work not interrupt her nap times. Both of us felt very comfortable with him and had no qualms about leaving him alone in the house as we attended to our daily business. The project finished two days early and we both felt good about the quality of his work and would recommend to others and hire him again ourselves.
Frank cleaned out my gutters. He also essembled and fastened two (2) loose and fallen downspouts. Frank was early and very thorough. He left the work site spotless. I will definitely call Mahoney's Window and Gutter Services again.
I researched roofing companies to have our house re-roofed. I contacted 5 companies ... 2 never showed up to even quote after they set an appointment, 1 quoted me DOUBLE what Storm Works quoted and the last company rep was, to be blunt, a bit strange and left me not feeling uncomfortable about awarding them the project. Sean from Storm Works was very professional, prompt and most importantly followed through on what he stated. When his crew showed up it was very obvious they knew exactly what they were doing. The work was done properly, we were guided through the process and at the conlusion you would have never known they were there with the exception of our new roof. A job well done all around! I would highly recommend Storm works.
Awesome all around experience. McKenna roofing quickly repaired my broken gutter and removed some pesky birds nests. My wife is so happy not to hear those noisy birds chirping by our bedroom window at 5am. Hire with confidence!
Removing construction materials - windows, screens, storms, etc.
I had Joe put in a new front door and two new windows. He sat and discussed the project with me and listened to exactly what I wanted. He and Frank were punctual, very professional and did a fabulous job. They also made sure everything was cleaned up each day. I would highly recommend Speranza & Son. I would definitely use them again
Gerry was quick to respond to my request and made himself available to discuss the project over the phone. This was a commercial office space with several tables that needed special repair and assembly. Overall a great experience and I will use him again for certain!
I am a tenant in Worcester in a triple decker. I live on ground floor and have fenced in yard with a dog who loves that sort of thing. Call me spoiled but I got used to that. In the recent high-wind weather, a large 20' section of fence blew over. I discovered the posts were never cemented. Much to my dismay, the landlords did not want to fix the fence. In addition to having a dog I now had to leash walk everywhere, the yard was open to theft where I have a fire pit, grill, patio furniture, etc. I also feared the fallen fence would continue to get damaged and become impossible to salvage at all. I posted on thumbtack and received several replies. Some estimates were so high, they blew my mind. Then there was Billy. Billy wasted no time. He came right out to my apartment. He was empathetic to the fact that I was paying out of pocket on a property that wasn't mine and had a couple ideas on how to keep costs down. He recommended I buy the material. I bought it same day and two days later my fence was dug, poured, and set. The best part is he beat the snow coming and was extremely conscientious of his work. The old fence sections had rotted and worn down to the point where they had to be cut to be re-seated. Billy left full size posts for when those sections need to be replaced. When they are, they will match the height of the posts. I have already recommended Billy to a colleague who renovates and flips houses as a side business. I, myself, work for a General Contractor in Worcester but concrete and fence work was too much for me to tackle myself. I've been around the industry and I know good people when I see them. Billy is a hidden gem. I'd love to keep him the best kept secret I know but I'd be doing him and his work a dissatisfaction. I would recommend him to anyone. Without hesitation.
.RMPaolino Construction was contracted to remodel my unfinished basement and install baseboard heat throughout my house. Mr. Paolino and his team did an outstanding job planning and accomplishing this difficult job. The work was scheduled so that it caused me very little inconvenience and all phases of the job were completed on schedule. All of the work and construction materials were of professional grade, and the overall price tag was more than reasonable. I intend to hire Mr. Paolino to do other work on my property. Because my house is 114 years old, many adjustments and accommodations had to be made in order to accomplish everything I wanted. Nevertheless, Mr. Paolino worked around all of the obstacles and got everything done that I requested. And it looks great. I highly recommend his services. The overall project included the items listed below. 1. Cleared the basement of all junk and debris. 2. Removed the old boiler from the basement and 12 radiators and pipes throughout the house. 3. Removed all of the old steam piping, old excess electrical wires and unused gas lines running through the basement. 4. Removed all artificial walls, ceilings and floors throughout the basement. 5. Installed a brand new modern boiler and enclosed it with walls with sliding doors for access. 6. Installed baseboard heaters throughout the three-story house. 7. Replaced numerous copper water pipes with fiberglass pipes and insulated the copper piping that was not replaced. 8. Replaced seven basement windows with new windows. 9. Restored the worn brick walls of the basement 10. Framed the entire basement and installed insulation. 11. Installed and painted dry wall throughout the basement. 12. The electrical circuit box was replaced and electrical and cable ready outlets were installed all around the walls. The electrical circuit breaker, gas meter and water meter were enclosed in a small room with an access door. 13. A utility area was created on a raised platform where a washer, dryer, and sink were installed. 14. The basement floor was covered with an industrial strength carpet. 15. A drop ceiling with large panels with embedded florescent lights was installed.
Maria and her daughter did a great job and a reasonable rate. They were professional and courteous. I was most impressed with the serious deep cleaning that not all housecleaners are willing to do. They scrubbed the floors, walls, bathrooms , and windows.
We met Gary Rawding, owner of Symphony Home Improvement, at a home show (the first one we ever attended). We set up an appointment to meet with him, that day, and are now the happy owners of new white CompositWood windows. From the beginning, our experience was a good one. Gary spent approximately four hours explaining the different types of window, and the technology used in the windows' compostion. In the end, we chose CompositWood windows because we felt that they were the best option. The installation crew came on the day scheduled and were on time. They each introduced themselves and were extremely courteous throughout the day and a half that was spent putting in 20 windows(including one very large one). They did a very thorough job and did not leave any hint of a mess. They were very professional. When the job was done, Gary came to inspect the windows to make sure all was well. It was. We are now considering replacing our front door, and will be calling on Gary of symphony Home Imrpovement. We love our windows. On a scale of 1-10, I would give all involved a 15!
It was a long time since I renewed the look of my house. I decided to start with the doors from the outer part of the house. Went to UBrothers. I really liked the prices and the samples, which were presented by Andrii, that I decided not to stop only on doors. I really liked the options of windows that they manufacture. Later he informed me about the dates when everything will be done and the prices. I was happy when I saw the results. Windows and doors not only look stylish but also safe. Master Andrii knows how to listen and really knows what his job.
J is great to work with and very professional! He did a great job installing two new windows and they look great! Will be using him for all my upcoming window projects.
Rick Johnson of STL Remodeling & General Contracting has done several projects for my wife and I over the past few years. We are very happy with his work. He has built a new sundeck for us and has installed an elaborate French drains system to correct ground water and runoff problems which needed to be addressed. He has remodeled our kitchen and master bath with excellent results. He also acted as general contractor for the installation of an auxiliary electric power system for our house. Our first engagement with Rick involved the repair/replacement of significant portions of a very long and winding stockade fence that was badly damaged in the December, '08 ice storm that hit this area. He saved us a great deal of money through a combination of restoration and replacement instead of a wholesale replacement of the fence which had been recommended by other contractors. Rick has also replaced sections of the cedar siding on our house (a 4 bedroom garrison colonial in Westford, MA). In each instance, we have been more than satisfied with the quality of Rick's work, including his timeliness and they absence of material cost increases beyond his initial estimates. I think his prices are competitive. He is knowledgeable in a wide range of home repairs and construction. Most importantly, he is responsive and reliable. I wish my earlier involvement with general contractors were half as favorable. I consider myself fortunate to have hooked up with STL and have no reservations in recommending him.
Extremely happy with Teixeira Construction. Walter was very fussy about his work and the finished product was excellent. My windows look great. He gave alot to the details of his work. Great communication and very accomodating. Thorough clean up. Highly recommend. Thank you!
Arkady is very experienced, he helped me with design, selection of materials and purchase of beautiful cabinets for my kitchen. He also helped me with redesigning my bathrooms and purchasing the correct plumbing fixtures and faucets. When he and his guys were finished with installing the new moldings at my windows and new hardwood floor, my apartment became a warm and inviting place to live. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I recently purchased a house and all the windows needed to be switched out. They did a 20 window project and I could not be more satisfied with the results. They were extremely professional and responsive. I would recommend them to any homeowner or business.
