Introduction: I am on a secret mission to help students (especially young women) feel confident in Math. All the research shows that "attitude" makes a huge difference. If people believe that being good in Math is because there is a "math gene", then it's easy to believe that you can't be good at Math because you didn't get that "gene." I often hear parents say they were not good at Math and thinking they have passed that "not good at Math" gene to their child. In fact, the research shows that in cultures where Math is seen as a skill, students are more successful. As in the development of any other skill, directed practice is what makes a student successful. I believe this with all of my heart. I want students to learn perseverance and how to learn from their errors. Errors and error analysis can teach so much.
I thrive on watching students develop self confidence from their accomplishments as they learn the math concepts. Nothing breeds success like success.

What an amazing experience we’ve had with Andrea. My daughter’s grade have improved tremendously. At 1st, myself and my daughter were a bit unsure if tutoring via Skype was the best option for her. We are very happy it has worked out and we could not have asked for a better Algebra tutor. I’m glad we found the right tutor for my daughter.

Andrea has been great. We have only had 3 sessions but in that time she has gotten my daughter past the - "I can't do math" stage. We still have a lot of work to do but I am very happy with the progress.

She is so nice!! She came home and was SO patient with me when it came to Algebra. In the end, I did great on the final exam for that class thanks to her patience and her knowledge. But the most important thing is that she is NICE!!

Mrs. Ridley was my algebra 1 teacher in eighth grade. She helped me stay organized and master the concepts of algebra 1. She helped me understand and further my knowledge in math and was always there to help and answer any questions. I would recommend her to anyone who needs extra help in math. She is a great teacher.

I was a student in Mrs. Ridleys algebra class in 8th grade. I was having trouble understanding the material. When I didnt, I stayed after school with Mrs. Ridley. It meant a great deal to me that she cared greatly about how I did in math. We covered the homework and anything else I did not understand. She had many strategies and ideas to help me understand the concepts. She was always available for help and Mrs. Ridley would create extra worksheets or even notes to help me. I met with Mrs. Ridley many times per week throughout the school year. I hated math before I met Mrs. Ridley. After being her student that all changed. I had never met someone so determined to make ones math experience positive. She made up songs to help remember formulas and to this day I remember all of them. Another great quality about Mrs. Ridley is that she is extremely patient. It took me a while to understand information, but she stuck with me. She would slowly work me through the problem step by step without giving me the answer. To be honest, there is nothing that she could have done better. She was caring, patient, a great teacher, a friend and will work with you until you understand the material. I am now a freshman taking geometry and doing really well. The base of geometry is algebra and without her I would be lost. I cannot thank her enough.
