Introduction: Students will find a nurturing, creative, yet rigorous learning experience where their creative, intellectual, emotional gifts are developed and strengthened. Each student is known and valued deeply. Frequent performance opportunities, creative projects, and community engagement initiatives engage students’ musicianship by connecting their learning with the world around them. Students broaden their horizons by joining local orchestras, attending summer music festivals, performing in masterclasses, and attending live concerts. Students learn to listen carefully and appreciate high musical standards from the beginning — a high level of commitment is expected, which includes consistent and effective daily practice. To achieve these learning outcomes, students are provided a detailed extensive support during and beyond the lesson hour. Learning the violin should be a holistic and joyful process. This is what I strive to bring to my students each week. I have personally learned the most from mentors who cared deeply about not only my musical and technical ability, but also my well-being and creative interests. I have found that success for students comes when they feel well-supported and heard, and also challenged frequently. I give my students and their families what they need to excel at music in an environment that adapts to their personalities, supports their passions, and allows them to give back to the community through beautiful music.

Maggie has been our daughter, Samantha’s, violin teacher since she was in pre-kindergarten and now Samantha is entering 5th grade. So we have worked with Maggie for approximately the past 5 years and absolutely adore her. We find her extremely professional. She is always on time for lessons, communicates well with both students and parents and provides both constructive criticism and praise when appropriate. She can be firm with the kids when necessary but also makes learning an instrument fun through in lesson games and group play/ensemble and suggestions for young children like reward charts. She wants to challenge the kids by having them learn new pieces and learn how to read music and makes helpful suggestions when appropriate, such as Suzuki camp and orchestra. She strives for excellence in each player and has high expectations. Our daughter responds well to her encouragement. Maggie also goes above and beyond. For example, when our daughter entered a talent show at school Maggie helped her learn the piece to get ready for the show. As a parent of three children, I appreciate Maggie’s flexibility and openness to discussion when we have had challenges over the years. I think she would be a wonderful instructor for your child and would highly recommend her.

Maggie Cerjan is a gifted teacher. She connects with the child where they are, makes the lessons fun, and paces every suggestion and new skill to the child's ability and learning style. She is gentle and encouraging, and teaches to a high standard and expects her students to work hard. My beginning student loves his lessons and loves Maggie; I'm so glad we found Stonybrook Springs!

For both our children, Maggie has formed a strong bond as a teacher, mentor, and role model. She is extremely devoted to her students and their growth, looking for opportunities to enhance their musical education while understanding each student as an individual learner. Maggie continuously surpasses expectations!
