Rheana did an amazing job cleaning my apartment! She was accommodating with scheduling, arrived on time, and was extremely thorough in her work. I have 2 very fluffy pets and she left the place sparkling. She also did an interior window cleaning and my windows are so clear right now I'm stunned. I would highly recommend her!

We just met with Kristin last Monday and evaluated the situation with our foster dog Zelle. We got a good feeling from her and even more importantly, Zelle seemed to respond well to her. We agreed to schedule several follow-up sessions to work on Zelle's fears and behavioral issues. It's too early to give an accurate star rating, but fingers crossed, so far so good!

Reckless Adventures is THE BEST. They come to my home 7X per week. Some days just one visit in the morning is needed, other days they come once in the morning and once in the afternoon too. My dog loves them and they love her. They are true dog lovers which makes them extra special. Also trustworthy, 100% reliable (never missed one days work in 6 years!!!), and sweet. You will never find a better dog walking/babysitting service then Reckless Adventures.

The Leash Dog Care team is really excellent! They provide daily dogwalking for our pup, and are always on time, and communicate extremely promptly. They really go above and beyond with the level of service and care they provide. 5 stars for their streaming service as well, it's a great way for me to keep an eye on our dog while he's on walks. High recommend the Leash team, it is so obvious that they love what they do.

I hired Wildflower Pet Care to walk my dog a couple times a week when I am at work. My dog has anxiety issues and can be difficult around new people. But it didn’t take long before she warmed up to both Jade and Lisa and is happily going on walks and adventures with them. They update me after each walk with photos and it looks like my dog is smiling in all of them! They are responsive to any of my questions and always let me know the details of the time the spend with my dog. I would definitely recommend this business and I know when my dog is in their care she is both in good hands and having fun!

Karen is wonderful with my dog! Usually after the initial meet & greet I prefer to be at the first few visits until I know my dog and the pet sitter are comfortable with each other. But my dog took yo Karen immediately and I was able to skip that step very comfortably. My dog fell in love with her instantly, and he is usually a very cautious dog. And as dog lovers know, we can trust their instincts. Karen has been so flexible and goes above & beyond. I'm so grateful I found her!

I have known Susan Devine for the past 13 years. We worked together for the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital where she was a very dedicated employee. Over the years we became very good friends and a part of our family. Susan’s love of animals was always present. When she rescued her dog, Roxie, 12 years ago, Susan’s devotion for her was very apparent. She is one of the most loving pet owners I have ever known. Susan has taken care of my 2 golden retrievers countless times, along with our fish and hermit crabs. My dogs think of Susan as part of our family. She is beyond reliable and trustworthy. If it wasn’t for Susan, my family and I would not have been able to go on vacation for years. One of my dogs is aggressive, with other dogs, Susan would go out of her way to be able for him to still get the walks he needs while taking care of the other pets.

Laurie and the Just Paws team are truly wonderful. We've used Just Paws for dog walking, cat feeding, and even an overnight stay. Laurie is meticulous in getting to know you, your pets, and your needs (and even visited our house, ensuring that every detail was understood in advance). Small things -- the notes the team leaves behind after their visits -- provide peace of mind and make it clear they really care for your pets. The introduction of the online booking service makes it incredibly easy to ensure that dates are booked. I can't say enough positive... it's not always easy to entrust the care of your pets to others, but Laurie makes it so.

Patti has been a joy to work with. She has walked our dog daily for over a year, and watched her for the occasional weekend when we travel. I know our dog enjoys their time together and knowing she is being looked after puts our minds at ease.

My family was going away for our yearly vacation up north and needed a dog sitter for my dog Spot. Fiona was so easy to contact and quick and friendly in her response, she kept in contact with me throughout the time period we were gone and gave me updates with how he was doing. When we came home Spot was happy and well-fed, and the yard was cleaner than when we left. Spot was actually sad to see her leave, he enjoyed the time so much! We will definitely call fiona again next time.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

      • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
      • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
      • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
      • What are your different walk routes?
      • When will you pick up and drop off?
      • How will we communicate?
      • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
      • What’s your cancellation policy?
      • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
      • How and how often do I pay you?
      • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
