About this pro

Are you trying to change something central in your life? If so, the place to begin is by cultivating a sense of purpose. What is truly important in your life? Are you doing what is important? Or are you simply doing what is convenient? Are you a parent who is having difficulty disciplining your children? If so, one answer is to learn how to parent in an authoritative (not authoritarian) way. Authoritative parents are loving and nurturing, but also have high standards for their children. Don't be afraid to discipline your child -- but there are ways to do it with love and firmness Are you and your partner experiencing conflict in your relationship? Are you angry with each other? Arguing a lot without resolution? Are you finding that it is difficulty to be intimate with each other? Is so, I can teach you how to manage conflict more effectively. Conflict -- you may be surprised to learn -- is not necessarily a bad thing. It is not conflict that is bad -- it is the way conflict is handled. I can teach to communicate in ways that will help you solve problems between you and develop a stronger, more intimate relationship. Many people who have had experience with therapy sometimes complain that their therapist "didn't do anything for me" or that the therapist "wanted me to figure out the solution to the problem". This will not happen with me. Although I work hard to help my clients identify and clarify their problems, when the problem becomes clear, I offer clear and sensitive guidance that will help to solve the problem directly. It sometimes takes time to develop new skills. If a client is willing to work hard to solve a problem, I will be there to support and guide them every step of the way. I work hard to earn the trust of my clients.

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $75 per hour. I don't believe that there is a need to break the bank to receive good coaching. Sliding scale for demonstrated need.
    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our initial consultation is free -- no matter how long it lasts. After we meet, we will discuss your goals, your challenges and your background. I will explain in detail the types of work we can do together to foster the development of your goals.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Developmental Psychology (University of Albany, Postdoctoral Work at Harvard University). I am also a college professor. I have written books on parenting, psychotherapy, and human development. I am the former editor and contributor to a parenting magazine. I have published scores of papers in scholarly journals and books.
