I chose Eric to design a logo for my new company, and I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Eric offers the perfect combination of guidance + receptivity. He listened to my thoughts about the business, asked some concise questions, and came back the next day with several different amazing samples including "The One." I had expected a longer process and my interaction with Eric over the phone was so comfortable and productive that I wouldn't have minded that - and he made sure to let me know that our back and forth was unlimited until we got the design just right - all for the very reasonable price he quoted me at the beginning. I'm looking forward to working on my new website with Eric - I will also recommend him to any of my friends and colleagues who need design work. He's a dream! Thank you Thumbtack (and Eric). :-)

We hired Compete Now to redesign our website and logo/rebranding after we met with Donato and he understood what our company needed to achieve with our web presence and how to make it happen. Their quote for the project was actually much less than other web marketing firms we had contacted. We really appreciated the quick turnaround and total support that we got from Donato and his team so we started using them for other marketing needs that came up such as creating new business cards, sales literature, templates for spec sheets, tradeshow graphics, etc. Compete Now has become a valuable asset to our company and we're so glad we found them!

I highly recommend Dionne Katinas to other business owners. Dionne did a wonderful job of creating a marketing identity for my new business. From logo design to production of marketing materials, Dionne was able to work within a tight time frame - and strict industry regulations - to get the job done. Dionne's creative talents enabled her to capture and convey the essence of my business. I am thrilled with the results and very proud of the professional image we project to our current and future clients. I'm really glad that I chose to "Go Above and Beyond..... with Dionne."

I had a really great experience working with Brooke. She took the time to meet in person for our first meeting, and was accessible via phone and email over the length of the project. When it came time for revisions and different iterations, Brooke accepted my feedback and critiques of her work very professionally and she really listened and incorporated my needs and desires into her design aesthetic, which resulted in a logo that I am extremely happy with. I will be working with Brooke again in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing graphic design work.

    About

My work draws from a fairly unique set of experiences. I've gone from student of Fine Arts/Art History to a comic strip artist and traditional paper animator, to a 3D graphics teacher at the NY School of Design, to online communications manager, to a Brand Identity Specialist and logo fanatic. This range of experience allowed me to identify common themes in many diverse media types that resonate deeply with all of us, regardless of the stories we tell. Understanding the language of visual communication is the difference between an illustration that is merely representative and one that can speak directly to the viewer. I love being able to tell stories with images. Symbols resonate deeply with people, and can often communicate more intuitively than words alone. Whether creating characters for games, or logos for corporations, learning to speak to a particular audience in terms that are emotionally understood is always an exciting challenge for me.

Quality is above all the most important aspect to any design. You have a very short window to impress the users that come to your site. If your site is confusing to navigate, hard to find, or organized poorly, you will lose out on those potential customers. The way I like to look at it, is your web site is a reflection on my reputation as a designer, as well as it is on your business. I enjoy solving problems and thinking critically and creatively. Getting to dive into a series of code whether it's something built from the ground up, or simple maintenance.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

How much does it cost to create a logo?

Logo design is an important part of your company’s brand development. More than an image with text and color, a logo communicates the tone and personality of your company to your potential customers. Hiring a graphic designer with an appealing portfolio and quality reviews is a solid start to creating a winning logo design. The cost to create a logo can depend on how in-depth the marketing and design services you request are. Designers can create one logo in multiple formats (horizontal, vertical, etc.) to fit both your website and social media platforms, they can create a variety of designs for clients to select from, or they can create multiple logos for one client who needs branding for more than one venture. Logos may be text-only, text and image, or image-only. Many designers and design firms charge by the hour for their services, while other companies offer packages bundled with design services. Here are some examples of cost:

    • National average cost to hire a logo designer: $170-$250.
    • Average hourly rate for a freelance marketing consultant: about $150.
    • Tiered pricing for logo design packages from one firm:
      • Package One: $200 for three logo concepts, three rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
      • Package Two: $350 for 10 logo concepts, unlimited rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
      • Package Three: $550 for everything included in the Package Two, plus business card design, letterhead design, social media graphics and an email signature.
      • Package Four: $850 for everything in the Package Three, plus custom brand guidelines, which outline a strategy for creating a consistent branding in the client’s business.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
