I love it when my students discover through their experience of learning guitar that they can do it and how amazing it feels to be able to play your favorite songs.

I had an enjoyable and mind-stretching introductory lesson with John that went well beyond the scheduled time. He is an excellent musician, which would be expected. But he also is an excellent teacher, which isn't always the case with talented performers. John spent considerable time and attention assessing my level and my interests, then provided me with a both some skills-building exercises and guitar theory that produced one of those light-bulb moments. I'm looking forward to regular sessions with him.

I was a complete beginner at 50! John has been excellent at introducing me to guitar so I can play songs right away. After a couple of months, I searched online for what makes a good guitar teacher and John does them all.

I had a great first lesson with John. Went out and purchased a guitar according to his advice and was all ready for my second lesson. Then he disappeared and has not responded to my emails. Not sure what has happened but now I have to begin my search again for a teacher.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My price is $75 per lesson. I charge the same no matter if I am with the student for :30 or an hour. I usually spend less time with young children if they have shorter attiontion spans.
I charge the same for a visit or if the student comes to me.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For someone who is new to guitar I begin teaching three easy chords that can be used to play any song in one key.
Then after we work with some songs and build some skill we progress to seven major chords so we can play any song in any key.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching private guitar lessons since 2008. I am self taught as a musician but always continue my education taking private lessons myself.
I have a BFA in art education from U Mass. Amherst and had been employed full time as an art teacher over the last five years.
