Several months ago, I bought a custom "recessed" medicine cabinet, so I could finally unclutter my bathroom countertop. I had been waiting for my usual carpenter to install it, with nothing but broken promises. I gave up on him, and turned to Thumbtack, because I'd had an excellent experience with it a year ago, finding a computer expert. And I'm so glad I did! I'm only allowed to choose three items from the list of "What did you like about working with Mauro Home Improvement?" But I wish I could have checked off all five, so I'll mention them here. Jose and Fernando are two of the best and most personable contractors I've ever dealt with. They were: 1) responsive, 2) punctual, 3) professional, and 4) did quality work for 5) a surprisingly reasonable price. They contacted me and came out to give me an estimate the very same day I put in a request on Thumbtack, because they happened to be working nearby. Lucky me! On the scheduled day for the job, they arrived on time (after calling ahead to say they were on the way), and installed the cabinet perfectly and with minimal mess--considering that they had to cut into a wall and work around wires--in less than an hour. To top things off, they charged the LOW end of the estimate they had quoted! And they were considerate enough to leave their shoes at the door--which is something that no other contractor has ever thought to do in my 40+ years of home ownership. At our first meeting, we discussed both the cabinet installation and also another prospective job on my 23-year-old deck. Jose and Fernando will be back to do the deck next spring, and I would not hesitate to call them for any other work I need between now and then...and and in the future as well."See more
