I found this group to be a total farse. The person I had contact with failed at several attempts to meet with me, four days have gone by with no contact where things could of been being done. The investigator wanted to call on the phone and send emails didn't want to do the job. If you have a real problem do not contact them find a real investigator.Feb 20, 2016VerifiedClandestine Investigative Services's reply
I've just received notice of this post and got a chance to read it. I have to take issue with your description. First we had set no attempt to meet. I had asked you in each exchange on the Thumbtack site to contact me directly at my email or my direct phone number, you did not. Why you would not email me directly or call me is a mystery to me. I do not continue what I consider private, privileged communication on a third party site or system, and I would think you would prefer more privacy as well. I asked you five times via the site to contact me directly. You suggested a place that would be good to meet, but we did not set a time and again.. why would you not call me? . Your request says Worcester, yet you're in North Adams? That discrepancy alone is enough not to take you as a legitimate inquiry. If you would like to be treated as a legitimate client in good faith, you need to act like one. Until you removed yourself from the anonymity of the site I, nor anyone else, should not take you as a serious inquiry in good faith. And you if you had actually made an appointment to meet, I would have only confirmed once I was able to verify your identity and was confident you were a legitimate inquiry. I have been working in this industry since I was 17 year old. I take my job, this profession and my clients very seriously.. and "farce" is not a word in thirty years ever to have been used. The lack of contact was on you, you had my name, my company name, email, website and phone number and not once did you reach out, outside of the marketing site.. I do not do business over the internet. You had not even supplied your phone number or email. Quite frankly sir, you are the farce. I wish you all the best and if you ever decide your problem is serious and you get serious, you certainly know how to reach me. Joe
I originally hired this company and Mr. Mangiacotti to do a simple investigation for me as I am an attorney. On the positive side, he was able to be flexible about meeting me and he did initially do some good investigative work. HOWEVER, he never finished the job. He asked for a reasonably hefty retainer and then NEVER provided me with a billing statement for me to provide my client. He also said that there was further investigating to do, which never happened. After my case was over, I tried numerous times to simply get an accounting and/or billing statement. I made it very clear that I was NOT asking for a return of my money unless the retainer was not fully used up, then I would like the difference returned. But if he used the whole retainer, that would have been fine if he just accounted for the hours and the work. He never followed up with that and it caused me to vicariously look irresponsible to my client. I emailed him numerous times, he replied once about seven or eight months ago saying he'd get around to the finishing the job "very soon." A month later, he told me he had an office fire but would get to it asap, which I told him was understandable, as sometimes things do happen in life. Then he never followed through. After that, he simply stopped returning my emails, he ceased answering the phone when I called, he never returned my numerous voicemails, and he even ignored my snail-mail letter that I wrote him. I have been trying for more than a half year to resolve this matter, to no avail. It is as if he disappeared off the face of the Earth and took my money with him!!!!Apr 13, 2017Verified
Great job... we didn't like result of the Investigation..not what we hoped for but they did a great job. Kept us informed of the progress and we decided each step together. Joe form CIS explained what we were up against ... and his advice and guidance really helped us get through a difficult situation.Jun 23, 2018
I contacted Joe Mangiacotti at Clandestine to help me ID someone. I gave him money and did not get any help. I would like to get a refund, because it has been over 5 months of nothing.Jul 5, 2017
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Typically we take a retainer. Depending on the case and the variables.. expected hours, expenses and services anticipate... well determine the amount. We then work against that retainer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Once a client decides to move forward we will communicate directly. It is preferred to set a meeting in person either at my office or a location convenient to the client. Occasionally the client is unable to meet in person and in those cases we can do the intake process via phone, email and Skype.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My father was a police Detective and did work for a PI in the same town. I began doing credit card collections at 17 after school (this was way before you could shut your card of.. the internet hadn't been invented yet!). I then began doing domestic work and shortly after that I worked for a large company where I gained experience in retail investigations, Insurance Fraud (Worker's Comp), background checks and undercover placement. My Dad and I started our own agency in 1986. He passed several years ago but I've continued on, on my own since 2008.
