Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I make a point of really understanding what my clients what to achieve and then, once working on a project, giving feedback on the whole as well as the little details. I communicate well along the way and enjoy being on the journey of bringing a book baby into the world! I love words and I love finding out about peoples' stories. I'd love to hear yours!

I hired Stephanie to edit some client proposals, and client reports for my consulting firm. These documents have to be perfect, and with Stephanie's eye for detail, they were. Also, Stephanie was great about letting me give her things at the last minute, and turning them around quickly. I really can depend on her services.

For the past two years Stephanie has provided copy-editing services to me; working on presentations, proposal documents, marketing material and other work crucial to an independent contractor. FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I base my quotes on a free sample edit of a few pages - this, alongside a discussion with the client, gives me an indication of the level of editing required. I work out the total based on the number of words overall, 250-word manuscript pages and my hourly rate. I am clear up front with a fixed quote and ask for a deposit to start. I am flexible with payment plans, depending on the length of the project.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I speak with a new client either on the phone, via Skype or in person and get a good idea of what they are wanting to achieve overall and specific services they want. We then discuss timeframe and budget. I ask for a deposit to start working and away we go! For a larger project (like a book) I check in every few days with questions and comments so that it becomes a very collaborative exercise.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I originally studied English Literature at university before detouring into a career of advertising and marketing, then development work. Over 20 years writing has been a key part of my roles, and since 2012 I have focussed on writing and copyediting exclusively. It's what I love to do, and I believe I'm good at it.
