I hired Antonio Originally to paint some windows, I was so impressed with his quality of work that I had hired him for 2 other jobs. What I have come to appreciate is Antonio’s ability to be a real handyman, he can do painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical. I intend to hire Antonio again and again.

Jennri Ordonez and his team did an excellent job in helping me prepare my unit for sale! I requested painting services and hole patching in several rooms, re-caulking of sections in the bathroom, and a full cleaning. His prices were very reasonable and his team's work was really high quality. I would definitely go to him again and recommend him to others.

To start, John came out on a Saturday to give me an estimate on the scope of work I needed to have done. John and Joe removed a reach in closet and a partial wall, to open up that space in a small bedroom. The project included re adjusting electrical on that wall, as well as the TV cable. They installed/ replaced the moulding and painted the entire room. They also installed a new system in my walk in closet, and replaced the closet and bedroom doors. Aside from the closet system and flooring which I needed to match to the old flooring, John took care of purchasing all supplies and equipment. They finished in less than the projected time. I am beyond pleased with the final project and would definitely recommend Complete Home Services to family and friends. I also plan to hire them again in the future.

I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.

Patrick was a great communicator, was very prompt, and stuck with the job which took longer than we thought it would. It turned out not to be as simple, but he got the cabinet cut out, the electrical and plumbing work done, and the dishwasher installed. Patrick is a very nice guy, and was very professional. I will definitely call him again.

Erick and his team are exceptional. I contracted Erick initially to do some minor house repairs. However, after not being satisfied with the work of contractor hired to paint, I asked Erick to do a lot more work to include painting, installation of kitchen appliance, replace flooring, miscellaneous carpentry, and electrical work. Erick was so responsive to my need to get the work done quickly as getting ready to list house. Quality of work is good, Erick knows his trade and made suggestions and recommendations that proved to be invaluable. His team are hard workers and take pride in what they do. And, the pricing is exceptional. Definitely recommend and will use again in the future.

Herbert Padilla power washed my very grungy patio stones, he also did the metal staircase & deck above. It looks wonderful! He also did a few extras like fixing my leaky hose bib (missing gasket, who knew) and attached the outdoor electric box cover that I thought was broken...nice he noticed. I would totally recommend him!! Having a patio party this weekend!!

Ricardo came to do several small repair projects in our home including hanging blinds, repairing a door, garage door work, hanging curtain rods, etc. He worked efficiently and was clean/organized. He came on time and was professional. He verified that we were satisfied with each job before moving to the next. Pricing was fair, he’s very responsive by phone and text, arrives on time and was very professional. He also seems to be skilled in many areas - plumbing, electric, painting/general contractor, and landscaping. He has given reasonable estimates for such work at my home and we plan on using him for more work which I’ll review once completed. It’s nice to have someone you can call for such a a wide variety of home needs.

My basement flooded as a result of a broken sump pump during a torrential rain storm. Unlimited Resources responded in less than 2 hours of contacting them. Due to the flood I also had some electrical issues which needed attention quick. They provided staff with the appropriate certifications and credentials along with excellent professionalism and expertise. In the following days they made sure that my basement was dried out and did mold remediation. Grateful for having to deal with a good company under such distress.

The team is great! They did such an amazing job fixing our small odd ball jobs (cutting/ capping water pipes in our MB; adding recessed lighting;oving electrical outlets and repairing holes in our drywall.) They did such an amazing job fixing the eyesores, you are not able to tell there used to be a sink in the bedroom or entertainment center in the family room. We definitely recommend JJ Contracting Services LLC. We will use them for all of our remodeling projects.

After a heavy storm, we had water leaking from our lights in the kitchen and from our electric panel in our basement! I called MJ Home Services and Dale came out the next day to investigate the leaks. He quickly turned around an estimate to fix both issues as I told him I wanted to fix the issues ASAP. Prices were very reasonable and he insisted on finding the cause of the leaks instead of assuming the obvious (the bay window in the kitchen). The "obvious" cause of the leak wasn't actually the problem after his investigation as Dale found that the problem was actually the window on the next level up. It was allowing water in and running down the brick into the kitchen drywall ceiling. I couldn't be happier that we chose MJ home services to complete the repairs and everything was fixed way beyond my expectations. Also, the coordination of service by Melissa was amazing.

I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am that Samantha and her assistant Anthony did this job today. I hired her to bring 120v electric to a new gas stove (old stove previously had electric oven that required 240v). She was one of the best contractors I have ever hired. She ran the electric, left the area cleaner than it was before her arrival, and then hooked up the gas stove (which was not part of the original agreement.) Extremely professional, extremely competent, and I would hire her again tomorrow and enthusiastically recommend her to anyone. I hope she uses me as a reference, because I will gladly endorse her abilities and professionalism to anyone who calls me.

I needed a contractor to refurbish a 15 year old townhouse prior to selling. It was a rental property 45 miles away, so I needed someone to manage and execute the entire job (about $15K worth) mostly unsupervised. Dale did an excellent job, and stayed on the job (more than 2 weeks) until everything was done. It required many skills (patching, painting, flooring, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, staining (deck), landscaping, and hauling.) He literally gave my townhouse a "New Image" inside and out, with great curb appeal. Dale was completely trustworthy, and I highly recommend him for any job you have.

Oh my gosh you are all missing out because Christian Risco was phenomenal. I called him in a panic because I had some major issues with my kitchen and garbage disposal & other items and he came in the next two days before the time we scheduled. He was prompt, he was professional, he was very accurate, he even put up with my cats and did such a professional job!!! He figured out an electrical error in my outlet on my deck that was like that for like several years I was so upset and it was such an easy fix we figured out how to fix it!!! I’m referring him to every person in my neighborhood!!! My neighbors already going to use him. I’m so glad I found him he stuck with me!!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
