About

Nick arrived on time and was responsive to all my questions. The work was performed quickly and efficiently, and the problem resolved. He had diagnosed the problem before even arriving, and after arriving and seeing the situation, confirmed his initial diagnosis. Other responders did not provide a diagnosis and needed to come out to the house first. That suggests to me that Nick is very knowledgeable about these kinds of situations, moreso than many of the other contractors

About

We were looking for new flooring to be installed in our entry and kitchen. Andre came out with an estimate and listened to our ideas about taking the kitchen reno just a little bit further. We wanted to get rid of the large Florescent light in the kitchen. Andre suggested he could install in-ceiling lights. We were on a tight schedule to get this done and Andre made sure he scheduled us for the week that we requested. He and his team did a great job getting our lights installed, our floors installed, and making sure that everything was back in place before they finished. Andre and Amilcarr are very personable and friendly, making sure we understood what they were doing on each step of the installation. They did a fabulous job and we're planning our next step in renovation to be suing Traylor Design & Construction as our go-to contractors.

About

I don't write many reviews, but I wanted to go out of my way to make sure to to write a detailed one for Yosif and Smart House Remodeling. I think I am uniquely qualified to give a very thorough review, as I hired Yosif and his team to do a basement renovation covering over 1,400 square feet. This was a big job, and below you can see some of the before and after photos from a few of the rooms. I'm a pretty particular client; I'm an engineer and pay attention to the details and quality of work that I get done and was very pleased with the outcome on this. I hired Yosif after getting approximately 8 (!) different bids for this job. So that shows you what he was up against. I think the typical experience with working with Yosif is likely as follows: you have him out for an estimate, he has some good ideas about the work that you may have not considered, he gives you a prompt estimate with very reasonable prices, and then you hire him to start the job. Once work is well underway, you realize you've got something really great going and then start creating new contracts to do all kinds of additional work with him--work that perhaps you've put off because you dreaded having to go through finding a quality contractor for each additional project. In my case, I started off with vinyl plank flooring over 1400 sq. feet (spot-leveling & demo needed), with some switch relocation and other electrical work (outlet additions, ceiling box), recessed lighting installation, and HVAC vent installations. By the end I had added significant drywall patching (including closing holes in attic), replacing a huge wood paneled room with all-new drywall, installed an attic ladder, replaced a rear door (including new framing & storm door install), repaired a front door, had a custom divider wall built to hide an HVAC unit, had soundproofing insulation put in, multiple in-wall access panels, minor plumbing, and I could honestly go on. I got an amazing amount done beyond what I originally thought was possible for my budget. Yosif is careful to make sure that you are OK with the finished product on each phase of the work that is being done, and is willing to redo things that are not quite right. Each job is properly finished too, with the small things like priming on drywall (plenty skip this!), clean up, and material disposal. I found him very trustworthy as well and had no issue with him doing work at my home regardless of whether I was there or not, yet he was also respectful of my schedule. I would also consider him skilled at a very broad range of construction areas/topics, which if you've hired a number of contractors before you probably know that is not always the case. Although I do want to note that I found his drywall work especially good. I don't think many people would assume that he has 10+ years of experience, but it shows in what he is capable of and in his approach to solving the problems that you encounter (and you will always find something interesting when you start opening up walls!). In short, I would gladly recommend him without any reservations.

About

Jacop, I have to say was one for the best contractor/hand man I've come across! Since he did most of his training in Italy, he learned the "old world" way. Jacop came to fix rotting wood on my doors and windows. During the process he would make suggestions on how to do things, and he would tell me from cheap to expensive and be very honest on which way to go. It was refreshing to have an honest person as they are very hard to come by nowadays. Jacop came in on time and on budget. Since he was so great, he will be coming back to do lots more work around my house to include refinishing my basement to putting up a fence. I have also recommended Jacop to my family members who have hired him to complete their master bathroom. I look forward to having Jacop come back to start all the jobs I have waiting for him!
