Hello families! My name is Lori Turner and I am a certified elementary teacher with 12 years of teaching experience. I offer in person tutoring for families living in Frederick, Maryland. If you live in another city/ state, I offer online tutoring. I currently focus solely on grades 3-5 for tutoring. I have a Master’s Degree in Education and a teaching English as a Second Language certificate. I have taught math, reading, writing, and more to grades 3-5 in both public and private schools. I have tutored students of various grade levels in person and online. Over the years, I have seen the power of 1:1 support for students who need extra help. Students who receive tutoring show improvement in the classroom. Prior students of mine have shown growth in their reading comprehension, reading fluency, and various forms of writing! Students have been able to master math skills such as multiplication, division, fractions, addition, subtraction, and more. I enjoy making connections with the students I teach. Lori was on time when she was tutoring the kids she always came prepared with all of her lesson plans and was always encouraging the kids to do the best they can during math, reading or writing. She went over the rules and always had a way of managing the kids in a positive manner and keeping them focused and eager to learn about the lesson. She always had them engaged in the activity. And if one of the kids didn’t display confidence, she would encourage and build that confidence.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $60 per hour for tutoring sessions online. I charge $65-70/hour for in-person sessions depending on frequency of sessions and driving distance.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I speak to the customer to get details on the student’s specific learning needs. I go over my procedures, and then schedule a first session to see if we are a good fit. After the first session, we discuss learning goals and then schedule regular sessions if we are both in agreement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a teaching certification for grades K-6. I also have an English as a Second Language certificate to teach ESL students. I have a Master’s Degree in Education.
