Hello families! My name is Lori Turner and I am a certified elementary teacher with 12+ years of teaching experience. I offer tutoring for students in grades 1-5 that need support in reading, writing, or math. I also tutor 6th graders in reading and writing (no math support for this grade level) .
I offer in-person tutoring for families living in Frederick, Maryland. If you live in another city/ state, I offer online tutoring.
I have a Master’s Degree in Education and a teaching English as a Second Language certificate. I have taught math, reading, writing, and more in both public and private schools. I have tutored students of various grade levels in person and online.

Lori was on time when she was tutoring the kids she always came prepared with all of her lesson plans and was always encouraging the kids to do the best they can during math, reading or writing. She went over the rules and always had a way of managing the kids in a positive manner and keeping them focused and eager to learn about the lesson. She always had them engaged in the activity. And if one of the kids didn’t display confidence, she would encourage and build that confidence.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $60 per hour for tutoring sessions online, and $55 for 45 minute sessions. I charge $65-70/hour for in-person sessions depending on frequency of sessions and driving distance.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I speak to the customer to get details on the student’s specific learning needs to see if we are a good fit. I go over my procedures, and then schedule a first session assessment. After the first session, I create learning goals for the student. I send the learning goals to the parent and then schedule regular sessions if we are both in agreement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an elementary teaching certification for grades K-6. I also have an English as a Second Language certificate to teach ESL students. I have a Master’s Degree in Education.
