My family and I have relocated six times over the last twenty five years and have had both good and poor experiences with moving companies and this was on all levels an excellent move done with honesty and the service we expected while paying top dollar for such services. So stay away from them, or you might want to move again and again and again all over again! LOL But 4 real, great job guys! We relocated from a larger 5 bedroom house in Alexandria, Virginia to a smaller house in a retirement community in San Diego, California and decided to unload many items that we had accumulated over the last ten years or so to make the move a little less painful on our pockets. We had three large name brand van lines come out to our residence for visual estimates and while they all seemed quite reputable after checking them out with the Better Business Bureau and other resources, their prices were awful high most in the $12,000.00 to $15,000.00 price range for full service packing and loading and other services provided. We were forwarded Movers on Duty's information from a friend of ours whose daughter had used their company for a move from Arlington to DC several months prior and said they did a wonderful job for them so we gave them a call to see what numbers they could come up with for the same services. We had faxed over the inventory lists and estimates from the other companies that had come out to our residence with the prices blacked out and for the EXACT same services their estimate was under $8,000.00 as in $7,275.00 ALL INCLUSIVE. Of course we checked this company out front and back and wanted to do business with the firm if it was through the owner of the company and they had told us that Oscar or Gabriel would contact us within fifteen minutes and we recieved a call from one of the owners ten minutes later. Gabriel Arbelaez (Sorry if misspelled) was by far, the most informative and responsive out of all of the companies we had come into contact with and he explained the entire process from beginning to end and the quoted price was much better than the rest so we threw caution to the wind and reserved a date with Movers on Duty to pick up and move our belongings. The moving day came and five movers and packers showed up and wrapped, packed, and loaded everything just the way they are supposed to like professionals without a complaint even though it was a big move. Our delivery end was just as easy although it was completed by three completely different men but it was still teh same great service that the original men did in the first place 9 days earlier. Now, I am not certain how this company treats the rest of their clients but as for us, they were the most honest because our price actually went down by $300.00 as opposed to going up hundreds or thousands. I do not foresee us moving anytime in the future but rest assured if any family members or friends do move we will definately refer them to you guys!

My wife is handicap and I work for the military so moving my family is something we commonly do. We used several moving companies, some were bad and some were good experience, but with Movers on Duty it was one of our best experience and I recommended it to anyone who is looking to move.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

3 bedroom apartments and 4 bedroom houses. *Most townhomes, condominiums and three bedroom homes require three or more movers. More than three bedrooms require four or more movers. All of the above is based upon average furnishings, of course if your home is loaded with furniture the amount of men and equipment may increase or decrease.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best thing to do is research a few reputable moving companies. Check their report on the BBB. Then ascertain a few moving quotes, flat rates or binding estimate are recommended. Remember your cost is typically based upon the number of rooms, amount of furniture, mileage and whether or not you need packing/unpacking services. But remember that we do not just offer moving services, we offer peace of mind as well.
