- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I schedule up to two trial lessons to give teacher and student the chance to meet and determine if our educational and musical goals align. If we are a good student-teacher match and the student decides to commit to lessons, tuition is due in equal monthly installment from Sep-June. The monthly amount varies based on the length of the lesson, and is calculated to cover lessons for the academic year and two studio recitals. I give a 5% discount for hour lessons (or two siblings with 30 minute lessons).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At the trial lesson, my first goal is to put the student at ease, find out what inspired the student to take lessons, and get to know the student's personality and goals. I usually cover elements of the keyboard, talk about good posture at the piano, practice some rhythms, and then do some improvisation games that gets the student playing right away (did you know that if you play only on the black keys, there are almost no "bad" sounds? Try it!).

B.A. in Music from Thomas Edison State College; member of national, state and local music teacher's associations (MTNA, MSMTA, FCMTA); private study with Dr. John Wickelgren, Adrienne Sirken and Edna Golandsky of the Golandsky Institute (New York); Professional Certificate in Composing and Orchestrating for Film and TV from Berklee.
