Sven created beautiful architectural drawings for my business. He took his time in gathering the details but was still able to get the drawings completed in less than a week! This was great because my project was already being delayed by the City and I was not able to proceed without the drawings. I would definitely hire Sven again for additional projects. He has a cute dog, too. Bonus!

Sven likes to make his customers feel inferior to him, not complete his job that he was hired for and repeatedly remind me of his status. Customer service skills are awful, and I basically wasted $1200 since I am starting from scratch now. The new architect laughed at the work Sven had done. Small claims court here we come!

This person began construction without a completed Fire Marshall approval for a daycare center for children. Our firm does not continue on projects when we are requested to not comply with ADA 2012 for permit drawings. We mutually ended work after submitting the initial Fire Marshall applitcation which was the client request. There was not Agreement for full architectural services and the client is not listening to our code concerns as a licensed professional. see older review of a restaurant owner in the same town which included ADA compliance and handicapped access for a historic bldg. see Lemke review.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
we do most projects on an hourly basis not to exceed a maxium price once we know the scope and complexity of the work. A big difference is of course where. Kansas City, Missouri is much more complicated permit process than Leavenworth, Kansas for example.
about 20% of our total fee is for Design the first part when we look at the existing building for remodeling or at a new site. This hourly fee is then applied to a guaranteed maximum % fee of total construction cost. our fees range widely from 3% to 16% depending upon each project. why we don't quote a percentage. we prefer hourly not to exceed.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
we charge a small hourly consulation fee and auto mileage since we are bringing 35 years of experience to the table. I have been self employed since 1990 and never a lawsuit EVER.
and so we charge for a consultation. and preliminary work may require a deposit of $1,500 to $5,000 toward the eventual total fee. small project deposits are sometimes only $500. all work is done with a written contract signed by Owner and Architect.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am required to have continuing education credits in architecture in order to keep my license in each state that I am registered. Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Calfornia all require continuing ed.
