FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 per lesson. Normally I charge for the whole month of services at the beginning of the month or the first day of lessons, whenever that day is. We will have one lesson per week at a specified day and time that we both agree on, so one month will usually consist of four to five lessons at the most.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually sit with the student at the keyboard and find out what kind of experience he or she already has. Can you play anything? Do you remember what your last piece was that you practiced? If so, what was the piece and how did it go? What do you know about the keyboard in general? Do you know what the notes are, what a scale is, what a chord is? Topics like this usually come up during that first lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started taking piano lessons at age 10 and continued with few breaks up until my senior year in college. I have experience playing classical, jazz, gospel, and hip hop. I have written music in the concert art, contemporary Gospel, and hip hip genre. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Morehouse College in 1998 and a graduate Masters degree in music from Georgia State University in 2003. The undergraduate and graduate degrees both had concentrations in composition. In addition, I have played in college jazz bands, church groups, and a group I formed with the help of God and others, called MOR (Ministers of Reconciliation).
