How do professionals clean windows?

Professionals use a basic solution of cleaning concentrate and water to get windows clean. They might use a scrubber to loosen grime and sun-baked debris off the glass, then begin working with a squeegee to make the glass perfectly clear. They will clean both inside and outside of the window. Professionals take extra care with individual divided panes to protect the edges.

What is included in window cleaning?

Typically, professional window cleaners will clean both the inside and outside of your windows, taking care to use different techniques as needed for different types of windows. They can remove hard water stains and perform deep cleans after new construction.

Window cleaners may charge extra to remove, install, and clean screens and storm windows. They may also charge more to clean windows that are high off the ground. They will also usually clean window tracks, and can alert you if there’s a problem with your windows or trim.

How do I prepare for window cleaning?

You can do some light cleaning yourself. For example, you can wipe your window blinds. Also, clear the area inside and outside of belongings that could get in the cleaner’s way. Perform an inspection of your shutters and window screens to see whether you’d like them cleaned as well.

What do professional window washers use to clean windows?

Professional window cleaners often use an assortment of tools and equipment, including squeegees, sponges, dry cloths, a ladder and a window cleaning solution.

Do you tip a window washer?

Whether you tip a window washer is up to you, but you can certainly give them a tip if they do a good job. This is a particularly nice gesture for workers who clean your windows under harsh conditions (e.g. hot weather). A tip between $5 and $20 is appreciated. If it’s a crew, you can throw in $5 or more per person, or just go with $20 if it’s a single person. Qualities of a job well done include timeliness, professionalism and friendliness.

How much is commercial window cleaning?

The national average cost to clean windows is $120-$170. Typically, window washing for commercial spaces costs less per window than residential window washing, but has a higher overall price because the greater number of windows. Commercial window cleaning companies may charge a standard rate per window — for example, $3 to clean the exterior only, with a higher rate of $4 or $5 to also clean the interior. There may be an additional charge, such as an extra $1 per window, for scrubbing off water stains or deep-cleaning window tracks. Double-hung windows require more labor and will therefore cost more to clean. Companies may charge a flat rate, such as $8 per double-hung window or $9 per French door, to account for the added work. Building height will play a factor in window washing costs. Standard cleaning for one- and two-story buildings will typically stay within the same range, but cleaning high-rise windows may entail special safety permits and equipment, which would increase costs. Your location will also affect window washing costs. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost to do business will have lower window cleaning rates than large cities.
