What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically work at the hourly rate of $75./ hr., with an estimated total cost for a given project...
...and can offer a fixed-fee amount when the scope of work is well defined.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For remodeling projects, I will first ask the client to forward (email) a few photos of the existing conditions along with a brief written description of what they would like to accomplish. Based on this info, I may ask a few questions to clarify, and then provide a scope of work and cost estimate. If the estimate is acceptable, we can then arrange an onsite meeting to review the scope of work, discuss the process going forward, and for me to measure and photograph the existing structure.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was owner of a custom residential design, new building and remodeling firm for 30+ years. I have worked with, and learned from, several excellent architects along the way.
I am a SketchUp Pro "Power User", which means I have an above average level of expertise with this design app. In addition to standard plans, I can create 3d renderings to assist client visualization.
