As young newlyweds that had been married for less than a year I honestly felt like my marriage was on the rocks during a time that I thought would be the most joyous and passionately loving part. We weren’t as inseparable as I thought we would be or dreamed we would be. I didn’t know what to do or who to go to seeing as we had just recently moved to Michigan. I surfed the web and came across this thumbtack website and waited to see which professionals I heard back from. Ken was the first and only to respond and as I read up on his profile and website I was very impressed with his background and expertise. I was drawn to the fact that he had been a minister because it meant a lot to myself and my husband to have that spiritual aspect as well. I had never done anything like this and really didn’t know what all to expect. I remember thinking that Ken was going to be providing us with all the answers to fix our marriage. But Ken helped us in ways that we didn’t even expect to be helped and with problems we didn’t even realize that we had. It was great! He didn’t give us the answers he gave us something better which was the tools we needed to realize what the situation was and how to work it out. We became educated on how our personal experiences affected our views on marriage and how it should or shouldn’t be. Turns out we didn’t have as many problems as we thought we did but we grew stronger and closer because of our sessions with Ken and we still use a lot of the things we learned. I felt like I experienced growth in my marriage but also personal growth and development as he recommended great books for me to read for my particular situation. As I felt myself getting very comfortable going to sessions and excited about that time my husband and I were using to invest/sow into our marriage I appreciated the fact that Ken let us know when he felt that we no longer were in need of sessions. He didn’t drag the process out or keep us coming to sessions just for our money and even though a part of me didn’t want things to end because I had gotten comfortable I realized that he was right. We saw Ken for a very effective 3 months that ultimately changed the course of our marriage. We really connected with Ken and almost basically felt like he was that close friend or family member that we could talk to. He just really made us feel comfortable and we were able to open up to him honestly about everything and if we were to ever need any help at all ever again we would go back to him- no doubt. I recommend him to any and every one 100%.

We could not have asked for a better experience while counseling with Jeff. My husband & I had individual sessions as well as joint sessions with Jeff. He is insightful, honest, & has integrity. He has helped us heal wounds from our past & present. He also has helped equip us with the necessary tools to break cycles which were destructive to ourselves & the ones we love. Jeff has many resource tools that are available to help each individual for their specific situation. Our marriage is healed & healthy. But most important are these what we call "life tools" that we have been given to help us for the future trials in life that we know we will face. Thank you Jeff. Bob & Dawn

I have been working with Cat over the years and she has been an instrumental part of my development. She had taken the time to listen to me every time and provide me with amazing advice that was custom tailored to my needs and situations. She empathized with me and helped me achieve better and more balanced interpersonal relationships, improved my marriage, develop self awareness, build up my confidence and adopt a better outlook on life. I feel that I could not have become the person I am today without her guidance. I recommend her to anyone who is struggling with any issues, she is phenomenal.

While working with Ms. Archibald at Detroit Behavioral Institute, I first noticed and was very pleased with her attentiveness, communication with staff and compassion for those she serviced. Working with children who come from various, yet similar, backgrounds and being able to bridge the gap of understanding was and is what makes Ms. Archibald a great counselor but not just the youth but also anyone who may be in need. No matter how exhausting the work may be, Ms. Archibald continues to improve her quality of work to better the quality of life for others beside herself. Selfless, persevering and having a timely attitude is only a brief look into the remarkable characteristics she posses.

Pastor Ed Armstead has contributed significantly to my spiritual growth, maturity and understanding. His love for God and His people is absolutely unquestionable, and his dedication to service, coupled with his transparency and humility, represents the true tenets of Christianity well. I couldn't ask for a better teacher, mentor, marriage counselor, friend, or Pastor.

Felix provided counseling to my husband helping him and us deal with his compulsive sexual disorder. He was able to pretty quickly determine that the issue was due to events that had occurred to him as a child. The process of working with each of us individually, working with us as a couple and providing a men's group for my husband to attend made all the difference. I can say definitively that without Felix and his techniques, mannerism and approach we would not be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. He truly worked with us to help save our marriage and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

About

We ave been married and working together for over 30 years supporting married and unmarried couples co-create the relationship of their dreams. The way we work is based on our belief that the way couples communicate with each other in marriage and love relationships brings out the best and worst in each partner. When communication flows they feel close and connected. When communication breaks down, they feel distant and disconnected. Communication breakdown is the tip of the iceberg of what is really going on. So we begin with pinpointing when and why this happens and then we guide couples to address what is really going on beneath the surface so that healing and growth can occur within each partner,as well as within the relationship. Therefore, we believe that love and marriage provides the perfect environment for each partner to take the appropriate action steps to be in integrity with the legacy they want to live with their mate. The complimentary telephone consultations we provide help couples who are interested in getting support for their relationship to have an opportunity to discover how we can best meet their needs, whether they work with one of us or alternate between the both of us. We have been working with couples for a very long time and have a multitude of testimonials many who are graduates of our weekend workshops about the benefits they have received in co-creating the quality of life they want to experience together. The counseling sessions and workshops are outcome based. What that means is after we discover what the couple is struggling with in their relationship, we guide them to peel away the layers beneath the surface of their communication breakdown or conflict to discover what is really going on between them. And usually what is really going on is they have lost the feeling of a loving, caring and respectful connection between them. Repairing and restoring that connection then becomes the focus of the work. We guide partners, step-by-step to take the action steps that will successfully support them to navigate the journey from where they are to where they want to be. In the process both partners gain a deeper understanding of themselves and each other in a way that is compassionate and affirming. That is what we believe couples desire and deserve. Couples who come to us for pre-marriage counseling receive support to prepare them for developing a success plan for their marriage. They are introduced to tools that will support them to expand and deepen what is already working and turn whatever challenges they may be experiencing now or in the future into opportunities for growth for each partner.

I am a counseling psychologist, based in the Metro Detroit Area, specializing in marriage and family. I began on this path due to my desire to see individuals and families healed and whole. So, I offer a compassionate and sympathetic approach to therapy.

About

I have been offering Christian based individual, family and marriage counseling to hundreds of people/couples over the last 18 years of my professional practice. I have a ministry background, and I am professionally trained. I have been married for 28 years!

About

My work seems to be an extension of who I am rather than a thing that I do. That is, I experience being with someone in a helpful manner, as a natural part of me. From my clients' perspectives, I am told that I am not like any other therapist they have known, in that they feel my interest and care for them is genuine and not just a professional courtesy.
