I have never before in my 58 years on this planet, had I had any of my dogs groomed. Too much hassle, taking them and leaving them, vaccinations for kennel cough, dog flu etc... WoW!! How simple, convenient, and affordable. Sierra is still a farm dog, but she doesn't look like one now! Sierra is an Australian Shepard and very particular about the people that get close to her, she was very acceptable of Jesse at first, then she got to the point of standing proper and yawning! No doubt she totally accepts Jesse and loves the attention. Sierra looks Maaavelous!

Barbara Jo Matson has been walking and caring for my two Westies at noon for over two years. She not only provides amazing care for my dogs, she loves them as I do. I trust her to administer medications, monitor their health, and provide useful suggestions to improve their overall comfort, safety and health. Barbara has also been part of an in-home care team for my two Westies and my guinea pig when I have been out of town, I particularly enjoy reading Barbara's entries in the "dog-log." She always includes interesting and helpful details about the pets which keep us in clear communication. She is reliable and trustworthy. I whole-heartly recommend Barbara as an in-home pet care provider. Her service is second to none.

Annette took great care of our dog Zell while we were on an extended vacation. She has a fenced in yard for play and even sent pictures to us to assure us Zell was happy and healthy. This was a much better option than a kennel for such a long stay. We'll be keeping in touch with Annette for upcoming trips!

I am a very clean and tidy person, and I carry that over into my jobs. I clean my customers' homes spotless, just like I keep my own. I vacuum, dust, clean windows and deep clean all rooms from top to bottom in my customers' homes. Unless I was asked only to do specific cleaning in specific rooms. I have owned animals my whole life and would treat your baby or babies as I would treat my own with nothing but the best of care at all times. Contact me, and we can arrange and meet and greet with your animal or animals, and you will see for yourself how much I love animals and how much they love me. About

I have 20 years of experience as a pet sitter and a clinical social worker. Caretaking is my passion and career! I love animals and belong to the Humane Society and ASPCA organization that care for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals. I have rescued many animals on my own. I would never walk away from any animal in need. I am exceptional with animals. Most are calm with me regardless of how they behave with others. I have had friends, clients, the Huron Valley Humane Society, Planned Pethood and Midwest Rabbit Rescue and Rehome notice this. In addition, I worked as a volunteer with a rabbit rescue. I fostered and did behavior modification with bunnies who were extremely anxious and aggressive. I was the only one who could get a bunny named Noah to stop biting. He had done this for years. Within 24 hours of fostering him he never bit me or anyone else again. I did this without violence or reprimands. I do not use that kind of training. After Noah, the shelter sent me more bunnies in need of behavior modification. I am very good with sick and older pets. I had to go to a friends home daily to give medication to his Cocker Spaniel because he could not do it on his own. I am experienced in giving medications and in administering IVs. I often diagnose health issues missed by pet owners and animal rescues. I have been able to diagnose diabetes and ear issues in dogs, cats who were in pain, and bunnies who had bladder stones. I also work very well with frightened and anxiety disordered pets. I provide overnight care, walking, behavior modification, house sitting, transporting pets to appointments and taking pets to training classes. I am happy to take your dog to a dog park and help them to learn to interact with other dogs. I have cared for others' pets for 20 years and I absolutely love animals, all types and breeds. I am comfortable taking care of exotic pets, have worked with therapy dogs, and work with people who need animals to balance their lives. I will love your pets like they are my own!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

  • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
  • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
    • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
    • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
    • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
  • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
    • Horse training: $20 per session.
    • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
    • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
    • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.
