TL:DR: Jillian helped me turn my aunt's quiet wish into a last-minute experience that added flair and joy to her special day. I am forever grateful we found her!

After 30 years together, my two aunts were finally getting married. Their wedding was being held at their home, and I flew in to spend time with them and help with the last-minute set-up.

While taking my aunt out for a pedicure (her *first-ever*), she casually mentioned that “it would have been nice” to have her makeup professionally done for the wedding too. As it turned out, she had also never had her makeup done and had simply never looked into making that little wish happen for herself.

After seeing how happy she was just getting her nails done, there was no way I was letting that comment go-- challenge accepted.

The only problem was that it was already around 7:30 PM, and she was getting married at 2:00 PM the NEXT DAY.

From the nail salon chair, I jumped onto Thumbtack with high hopes and admittedly low expectations. I needed someone available the next morning who would come to a private residence in the St. Clair Shores area, was comfortable and supportive of a same-sex wedding, could make someone completely new to professional makeup feel at ease, and ideally wouldn’t break the bank on essentially zero notice.

Jillian responded within 20 minutes.

I will be ever impressed and grateful for Jillian's responsiveness and willingness to squeeze us in for an appointment the next morning. However, her professionalism, punctuality, thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and completely unrushed care are what truly blew me away.

My aunt was genuinely excited to work with a makeup artist, but this was also completely outside of her comfort zone. Jillian seemed to understand that and matched her energy perfectly-- she was kind, patient, encouraging, and incredibly attentive, making sure to explain what she was doing as she asked about my aunt’s likes, dislikes, and ideas. She walked her through different options and made thoughtful recommendations based on her skin, the wedding colors, the weather, and the activities (an outdoor ceremony). She encouraged my aunt to try something new without ever making her feel pressured or unlike herself. As a result my aunt was STOKED to try wearing false eyelashes for the first time (which was honestly adorable to witness).

It's important to note that Jillian gave such care with the full wedding day chaos in full swing, with people moving items around, decorations being finished, and last-minute preparations happening everywhere around her setup. Somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, Jillian created this little pocket of calm that allowed my aunt to sit down, be taken care of, and simply enjoy being a bride.

Jillian made my aunt feel special, confident, GORGEOUS, and, most importantly *like herself,* I can't recommend her enough!
