Hiring Trilogy Band to play at our daughter's wedding was the best decision we made. They were very energetic and engaged our guests throughout the reception. They are a talented and friendly group of musicians. Our guests told us they ended up staying much longer than they thought they would because they were having so much fun! They also offer an emcee and dj coverage when on break. The bridal couple were thrilled that the music they wanted played was available. Very extensive music options. The additional cost for live music of this quality was definitely a great value.
I like the atmosphere at Harris Conservatory; it's casual, but professional. As an adult student, I pass teens and children and parents when going to/ coming from lessons. My instructor is a skilled musician. And I live in Plymouth, so it's all walking distance. Definitely a place you should check out for lessons!
DJ James provides a steady soundtrack regardless of the occasion, drawing on his background as a musician to mix crowd pleasers with lesser-known songs that are equally entertaining and apropos. If you’re looking for beats to go with your eats, or just songs to get your crowd to play along, DJ James is your man.
My husband and I hired a solo cellist to play for our wedding ceremony and he was wonderful. Couldn't have asked for better! Definitely recommend
I have been studying the guitar under the direction of Robert (Robbie) Noll for the past 2 years. I have been playing for many years and already have had some experience. And so, I was very particular in my search for a mentor to help guide me to advance my skills and knowledge in the art of guitar playing. I chose Robbie because I found that he has a very unique approach and teaching style that he has developed over many years. It's efficient, logical and methodical. An algorithm, per se, that if followed and practiced diligently, will result in rapid advancement. And, that is why I choose to continue to move forward and advance in my journey. The bonus is that every week I have a lot of fun and always learn something enlightening. Robbie is a true mentor, a very talented musician and guitarist, and he's become a dear friend. I find my lessons with Robbie to be both beneficial musically as well as therapeutic and spiritual. If there is really such thing as a holistic guitar instructor, then it is Robert Noll. I would recommend Robbie to anyone who is seriously interested in studying the guitar. Robbie makes the learning process fun and rewarding. His method of instruction will quickly help you advance and achieve improvisational expertise in most every genre. And, if you're lucky, you'll make a really awesome new friend.
Laurel is a lovely musician. Played the Harp with passion and was very professional and accommodating.
I had been playing guitar for a couple of years before I started taking lessons with John. I was a little apprehensive studying guitar with him since he's primarily a bassist, but it didn't take long for him to dissuade me of that notion. John is a talented multi-instrumentalist (he also plays keyboards in addition to guitar and bass), who quickly demonstrated to me that he had complete mastery of the guitar and that I was in good hands learning from him. In all the time I spent learning guitar before studying with John, I had learned some theory, a few licks here and there and the basic blues progression. After a few months with John, though, I was playing complete songs and was able to sit in comfortably with other musicians in a band or jam situation. He mixes a good amount of theory in with his lessons, but he makes it fun and relatively simple. John was really good at listening to what I wanted to accomplish as a musician and helping me develop a plan and goals to get there. I should add that I am an adult guitar student, which comes with its own sets of challenges in terms of scheduling and time available for practice. John was very flexible in accommodating my schedule and helping me get the most of the limited time I had to practice. It's not an exaggeration to say that my ability to play guitar and enjoy music increased exponentially while I studied with John. I highly recommend him to anyone, regardless of age, skill, or experience level.
I began studying with Rachel about a year ago after finding her through Thumbtack. I was a pianist at the intermediate level, having taken lessons in grade school, but wished to bush up and advance after being asked to become more involved in music ministry at Church. Rachel is an excellent teacher. She is very knowledgeable about theory and proper playing technique and is able to clearly articulate those concepts. She is also patient enough to explain or demonstrate something over again until it is understood without becoming frustrated. She has two pianos side by side in her teaching space which I think is a convenient and efficient way for her to show the proper way to play a passage. I especially appreciate that Rachel challenges me beyond just playing the correct notes and rhythms but to strive towards continually creating a more expressive, beautiful, and musical sound. I feel that I have made considerable progress as a musician in the last year, and I look forward to continuing to work with her for a long time. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for quality instruction.
Jarrod was an absolute pleasure to work with! He played music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and entire reception! He did not need any direction during our Big Day, he is a true professional and knew exactly where to be and what to play! Jarrod put together a jazz quartet for reception and it was absolutely perfect! They played great music and all or our guests raved about it! Whether you are looking for background cocktail music, or getting people onto the dance floor, you will not be dissappointed. We wanted jazz, New Orleans style blues/jazz and that's exactly what we got! I still have several of the songs he played stuck in my head! If you are looking for a jazz musician to play fun upbeat music for your event - this is it! Thank you Jarrod!
Excellent band! Great jazz music. Talented college aged musicians.
I recently hired Jacob to perform at my 50th birthday party at my sisters home. He promptly responded to my request for a solo musician on Thumbtack and all my email correspondence. I was a little nervous because I had not heard him perform previously. He invited me to a local bar to hear him perform and I knew instantly he would be the right person to play at my party. Jacob was helpful and accommodating in coming up with a playlist. He is very versatile and could play almost all of my requests. I have heard from all my friends and family that my party was the best house party they had been to in years. Everyone complimented me on Jacob's performance. Thanks to Jacob it was an evening to remember! I would highly recommend him for any event you might have scheduled.
DTour is a fun, very diverse band. They put on a very professional show. They're cover Motown as well as many other R&B Dance hits. All the musicians are very talented. Joseph, leader of DTour is very personable and makes sure the client is happy.
James is without a doubt, the most compatible musical instructor I have ever had. He is both talented and versatile as a musician, which translates to him being a very adaptable teacher. This flexibility was important to me because it meant he had something to teach me every lesson, even when my incredibly vague goal was "to learn to play the banjo". This skill as an instructor is attached to a personable human being who I believe could hold a conversation whether his student was a suburban teenager, like me, or the Dalai Lama. All of this is made possible by the most important quality a mentor can have: patience. James has an abundance of patience which belies his gentle firmness as a teacher. I was incredibly disappointed to hear that he was moving away, but I wish him all the best and hope he builds a new collection of students who are as committed to their craft as he is.
Steve did a wonderful job at our wedding ceremony. He's a fantastic musician and has a wonderful personality. He added just the right touch with his piccolo to my outdoor ceremony. Thank you so much Steve. You rocked!! :)
Will is an exceptional talent and performer. He recently played both solo and with his band at our wedding and everyone kept saying how much they enjoyed the great music. He was great to work with, reliable, and very professional! I would recommend Will to anyone who would like a true artist perform at their wedding.
I can't even explain how great this band is! John and the guys are awesome musicians and one heck of a cohesive unit. They aren't just some band that got together to make a business. They're buddies who have all played together for a number of years and it really shows. My husband and I went to see them last November when we were looking for a wedding band and we were just blown away! We had so much fun that night listening and dancing at the bar. We couldn't believe how good they were (you never know with "wedding bands")! The entire rest of the time that we were planning our wedding The Highballs were the biggest thing that we were looking forward to. At the wedding, we had a blast dancing to them all night. The dance floor was packed with all ages and we couldn't stop smiling. Several of our friends (as well as my husband) are musicians and our friends kept commenting on how "tight" the band was. You can tell that they enjoy playing, they enjoy playing together, and they enjoy playing music to make people dance. John and Niko also played acoustic guitar for our ceremony and it was just perfect - they even learned a totally new song for us. One final note: during our First Dance, a double rainbow suddenly appeared in the sky above us. We saw it out the barn door and just ran outside to see it with all of our guests. The poor band! We left them hanging! What did they do? The started up the chorus to "The Rainbow Connection!" That's how good this band is, folks!
Steve is a top notch musician that has a Masters in Music. He has taught my son blues guitar, produced on recording sessions with my niece, Chey Hall, and plays great blues, jazz, and classical guitar himself. He had done wonders with the Jazz ensemble at the Ypsilanti Youth Orchestra, and does great work with his band.
I'm an artist, musician and a creator. Everything I can see in my head needs to be placed into this universe, and I am here to do so.
I am a solo musician / singer. I sing and play the guitar and keyboard with backing tracks I created myself, mostly oldies, but with a wide variety, and music from the 40s through contemporary. Danceable, I play a lot of fraternal lodges, senior centers, restaurants and private parties. My song list has upwards of 300 songs. I have an easy setup and I am very attuned to customer satisfaction. I do mostly mainsteam popular music of many styles. I do the songs everybody knows. You have lots of opportunity to sing along and party.
