The owner, Nick, is an extremely nice guy who went out of his way to make sure he got to our small appliance installation timely. And he did so even though his employee was involved in an accident earlier in the day. I would highly recommend him if you want a courteous professional to do your work.

I spoke with the Owner Mike, and I was able to get a same-day site visit with the installer, Robert. Robert was exceptional! Not only a really nice guy, but very thorough, courteous and certainly a master at his craft. A few days after the initial visit, our vinyl sheet kitchen floor was installed and beautifully finished. Educated as an interior designer, I'm very meticulous about detail and the finished product as well as the process involved.... Robert's installation was a work of perfection. I would recommend Simply Floors, Mike M. and installer Robert K. without hesitation for any flooring job - large or small whether commercial, residential, or hospitality. Robert K. is the best!

Great service at a great price. Hector and his team went above and beyond the job by removing debris and grading the yard after the concrete walkway was installed. Work was completed quickly and Hector was quick to respond with a quote. Highly recommended.

I have to start by saying how impressed l was with Tom and his work. He did tile work for me among other projects. I hired Tom based on my first impression over the phone, and his knowledge and professionalism when we met. But what really sealed the deal was his numerous positive reviews. The reviews did not disappoint. From start to finish he was a class A act. Not only was his work exceptional, he went above and beyond to make sure that I would be happy with the outcome. His professionalism and quality of work is to be commended. I would highly recommend Tom, and l look forward to working with him again on future projects.

Will and his workers did an excellent job without significant delays or cost overruns. This was a trustworthy crew. They were meticulous in cleaning up and I commend Will on his excellent public relations expertise. Their costs were very reasonable. My bathroom renovation looks great! I am especially pleased with the laying of marble tile in bath and counters. Surface is flush, corners and edges are done well, and the pattern of marble is carefully planned.

Bob assessed the job of replacing some aluminum siding, repairing sagging gutters, and reinstalled siding that been installed incorrectly. I did not know that but Bob explained what the prior company had done and how it was wrong and he fixed it. The price was reasonable and the work was first class. I will use BD Handyman again when the need arises. Al D. Canton, MI

We are very happy with the work that Bert did with our kitchen remodel project and would consider him again for future projects. Overall our kitchen remodel consisted of removal of old cabinetry, flooring, and demo of a closet. He was timely and cleaned up before he left for the day. He installed new cabinetry, tile flooring and a glass backsplash it all looks great!

I initially hired these guys to tear out and re-tile my master bathroom. I knew I liked them when they showed up to quote the job and took their shoes off on my front porch. The tile job was fabulous and completed in 6 days. Halfway through the project, I discovered they also do wallpaper removal. I immediately hired them to remove wallpaper in an upstairs full bath and then paint. That also turned out beautiful. They are currently working on removing wallpaper and painting my kitchen. While all the quotes I received (4) were about the same price, these guys stood out for their work ethic. I have more projects planned for next year and have already decided that Leo Tile & Painting will be the ones doing them.

We are very pleased with KML. First off, they came out next day, on a weekend, to measure and bid on the job. They gave 3 bids, with clear options, so we could decide from there. The bids were reasonable and they did a great job fast. We got linoleum and carpet removed from our small kitchen and dining room area and new ceramic tile installed beautifully. Get this: It took less than a week from the time we posted on Thumbtack until it was all the way done. Additionally, these people are delightful. My wife was smiling and laughing (which was priceless as she is recovering from major surgery). They went the extra mile, including a few little things that weren't even part of the job like helping with a troublesome cabinet. Five stars! We would hire again!

Chad from Rockwell Ceramic and Stone was awarded the tile project in our home based on his promptness, knowledge, experience, portfolio of past projects, and customer service. The project is scheduled to start today and based on my interaction with Chad thus far, we're expecting awesome final results. I'll write another review when the project is complete.

I just recently purchased my first home. It was explained to me that the pool was opened last year, but I knew that was a lie just by looking at it. There were plants growing on top of the tarp and mud underneath. It literally looked like a swamp & smelled like sewage! I'd called they companies but was given the runaround. My final straw was with PLR Tile & Coping. I am ecstatic that I made the decision to go with the thumbtack recommendation! Angelo was extremely polite, professional and understanding of my constraints. He was just perfect!!! He took the necessary photos of the train wreck in my backyard in order for me to be able to try and retrieve the pool escrow set aside. I could not have asked for a better company!!! If you are choosing between this company and someone else's, do yourself a favor and choose PLR!!! You won't regret it!!! It took a little longer than I would've hoped, but when looking over everything he had to battle to get my pool working it was worth the wait!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

      • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
        • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
