I’m a 56 year old married woman with three adult children, one son-in-law, four precious grand-daughters and two dogs and I’ve had a great life so far. It may sound simple but my entire life I’ve dreamed of living in a well organized home but I had no idea how to achieve this. As hard as I’ve tried I didn’t know how to organize my home in a way that made sense to me and was also easy to maintain. I’d become overwhelmed by years worth of clutter, disorganization and too much stuff! I’ve had poor organizational skills my entire life and I’d finally decided that I needed help to ensure that my “second act” is free of what was weighing me down and holding me back from living my best life. When I found Mabel I instantly knew that the time had come to simplify my life and move forward. Before I started the journey Mabel asked me to visualize what I envisioned my ideal life to look like in terms of lifestyle, home decor, surroundings, etc.. I instantly knew that she was just the person to lead me through this journey. We began by touring my home. Mabel made her assessment to identify my individual organizational needs and from there she included me in developing a plan of action and as a team we dove right in. According to the KonMari Method we worked our way through my house one category at a time. I learned a lot about my style, my choices and myself. Ultimately I have discovered that (as the saying goes)”The things that matter most are not things.” Not only have I rid my house of clutter, I’ve freed up space in my home, I have more time to do the things I enjoy and I can spend more time with the ones who mean the most to me. After spending just a short time with Mabel I discovered that She is not only hardworking, professional, highly intelligent and compassionate, she is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.

Mabel was really great in helping make my home tidy and organized. She explained the Konmari philosophy to me and was also very receptive and understanding. She is a great communicator. Mabel is a very attentive, caring, and competent professional. She works with me in my own rhythm. My home is becoming the tidy heaven I have always dreamed of. My experience with Spark Joy in MI was absolutely fabulous! Mabel gave me tools to work with prior to our virtual visit. She helped me tidy and organize my home office . I had delayed taking care of my office because I didn't know where to begin. We began with removing everything from my desk. Step by step we went through what i needed on my desk and in my work space. I had enough pens and pencils for a classroom! I went through the pike of pens and pencils and kept what only what I needed and, most importantly, what Sparked Joy in my work space. I donated the extras to my neighborhood pick up center. After my session I looked at my desk, clean, orgsnized, well lit. My office now Sparks Joy in me and I am drawn to it to do my business with Joy! Thank you Mabel!

I met Mabel in a leadership development program. Our shared interests in facilitating the growth of others fueled a friendship that continued after the program was over. She has a very sweet, gentle personality and I enjoy being in her company. I traveled to Grand Rapids to visit her and she hosted me in her home for a weekend. A couple of things stroke me as unusual, even odd. The first thing that really impressed me is how clean, organized, and pristine her home was - all the time. That would not be a surprise if she did not have a 5-year old son. How can you possibly keep a home organized when you have a child in it? The second thing that caught my attention was a casual dialogue that I overheard her son having with her at a restaurant. Mommy, I want to organize my toys when I get home. I had no idea what he meant, while I kept that scene in the back of my head. Later, after we arrived at her home, I witnessed the two of them again, mom and son, in what appeared to be a game that he was excitedly playing. He got all his toys out of the toys closet and he was happily dialoguing with her about the toys that he wanted to keep and those he wanted to donate to other children. Then I understood that at the restaurant he literally meant to organize his toys. And for him keeping the toys organized was actually a fun thing to do. That was Mabels secret to having a pristine home even though a kid lives in it!
