Jan took my headshots for me a few years ago, and excellent work holds up. I get calls for major television and film auditions, but they won't even CONSIDER you if your headshot isn't up to par. I recommend her to anyone who needs a quality headshot taken in an easygoing, relaxed, friendly atmosphere (because tension WILL show in a picture, and that's no good for a headshot); from acting colleagues to my parents (who are both preachers and occasionally need to send out a photo for revivals, conferences, etc). Also, you won't have to sell an organ to afford her rates: high quality photos, delivered on time AND affordable. Thank you, Jan! Also, see some of the work her headshots got me considered for: www.samuelbrice.com

I used Cartwright Photography for my son's senior pictures. When my flaky boy decided he "hated" every proof, Jan cheerfully scheduled another photo session and we had the perfect pictures in no time! She's easy to work with and makes the whole experience fun and stress-free. Her prices are great, too! I've recommended her several times and everyone has raved about her, also. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have worked with Jan for many years. She is an incredible photographer. As a theatre director, Jan is my go to person to take headshots of my actors for upcoming productions. I would put her work against any other professional photographer. She is punctual, prepared and creates a great rapport with her subjects. I have also seen other still photography she has taken. She can find the beauty in anything and capture the moment.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First, look at the work the photographer has done - it should be technically perfect and emotionally compelling, and in a style that fits your needs. Second, do you feel comfortable with the photographer? If not, your photos will reflect that! Third, if you're a local actor looking for headshots, a high glamour, artsy look isn't appropriate in the Detroit market - it may be fun, you may love the photo, but it won't get you work! Headshots should present the "real you" on a good day!
