FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I tend to do a time materials quote. Estimate the time and the customer buys the materials I recommend or pays from the receipt, no mark up. My labor is a straight hourly rate which the customer controls based on progress. Again the customer is in charge of the cost!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Started with my grandfather whom was a general contractor and cabinet maker and just found this work to be natural and fun. So I progressed into a Residential Builder here in Michigan, then in Georgia now back here to be a handyman, just to enjoy small projects.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Small fixes like replace windows, repair drywall, repair plumbing, install electrical fixtures and outlets to tiling floors and back splashes. One man projects that take 1 to 2 days max.
