FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I truly enjoy lifting weights myself, and love teaching others how to safely lift. (I'm a teacher by trade, with weightlifting as my favorite activity!) It is so neat to be able to watch the transformation of someone as they gain success and self esteem. It's great to be involved with their excitement and motivation as they pursuit it with passion instead of a need.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
A typical client is very interested in lifting weights, but is not sure where to begin. He or she wants to understand proper lift techniques. Learning how much weight to lift, how many times to lift that weight, the number of reps to do, and creating a successful workout plan can be VERY tricky and intimidating for a beginner. I'm involved in creating a safe, personalized, successful strategy that suits your goals and schedule. I work with individuals with all different skill levels, from beginners to athletes with a desire to learn more to tweak their program.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Choose wisely and keep in mind doing things safely. (No unusual quick diets, pills, or intense or painful workouts.) You should be comfortable talking and sharing about your health struggles and vulnerabilities. Find someone supportive that you can be totally honest with and trust. If your gut instinct says "no", keep looking. You deserve the respect and full attention of your personal trainer. Schedule appointments by the week (or further in advance if possible) to keep your routine. Discuss options for sick days/cancellations ahead of time.
