FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have a complicated pricing system - it's a checklist of menu items from which the client can choose. I charge a flat hourly fee, discounted slightly for full days and even more for full weeks of service.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meet with the customer to understand their needs and if I'll be able to help them. If they're looking for a service that's outside my area of expertise, I'll let them know and point them back to Thumbtack to find someone with that expertise. I provide the customer with a contract that spells out my rates, billing, timing, etc., and the information I expect to receive from the client. I've had clients who were difficult to get ahold of to get the information I needed to complete something, and I don't like chasing my tail. ;)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
CONSTANTLY - and I do mean constantly. I subscribe to dozens of HR and legal newsletters to keep current on legal decisions that may impact my clients, find out about new training resources that anyone can use without cost, "best practices" in various areas of HR. I am SPHR certified (Senior Professional Human Resource manager) through the HR Certification Institute, and I attend the annual SHRM Conference along with other HR events, where I can meet and hear professionals speak on a variety of HR-related topics.
