FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
One man's complication may be another man's simplicity. I usually stick to a formula i.e. cost per square foot or linear foot.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Typically the Jobs I do haven't changed in decades. There is only one way to Hang Drywall or install a ceramic tile floor. What has changed is some of the materials that are used to perform the jobs. You can't help but trying to keep up with improvements in materials and tools because these things are going to save you time and or money and may improve on the quality or life span of the material.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father was a general contractor and self the performs masonry portion of the job while sub-contracting the other trades. As a kid I spent everyday with my father in the summer time, going from one job to another. I was a general labor for my father and worked right along side of adults from the time I was ten years old. Having spent so much time on construction sites I started picking up skills from the other trades. I eventually became a construction consultant for a national food chain, then managing multi-million dollar projects for a General Contracting company in SE Michigan.
