Aleks was the best! He was one of the first contractors to respond. He asked if he could stop by (at no charge) to do a quick review so he understood exactly what I needed and give me an accurate quote. Other contractors quoted both higher and lower than Aleks and one wanted $160 just to look and apply that to the final cost. Without giving away what I paid exactly, my total cost was between $300-500 so you understand the scale of my project.
I wanted a couple of complicated switches replaced, some exterior lights I installed reinstalled (I had an arc short and he's a master electrician, so for safety), replaced 3 exterior outlets, fix or replace a couple of GFI outlets inside, and install a Sense energy monitor on the circuit breaker box (too crowded and dangerous for my experience).
He offered some info that saved me from having him do unnecessary work, suggested several options and parts I could buy on my own. Once we had a plan he gave me a very reasonable amount as a quote and we scheduled the work for a few days later.
Aleks arrived within a reasonable window of time and was sure to text me with updates to his arrival time. He brought his small work van and his teenage son as an assistant. He had his son lay down sheets to protect my floors which wasn't really critical, but a nice consideration.
Throughout the process Aleks did not mind me coming and going and made additional suggestions and conversation as he worked (no stopping to chat needlessly).
He even did a little bit extra on inspecting and reworking my breaker boxes. When the job was done I asked him if I owed more than we discussed and he said no. I gave him a check with a modest bump for the extra work, good pricing and overall courtesy - he sent his kid back to the door to shake my hand and thank me for the "tip".
I think I've found my electrician for as long as I need one in the future.
