Introduction: While in college I was fortunate enough to study in a voice studio that comprised of older and professional singers (typically between age 25-30). The amount of efficient and clear information I received about solid vocal technique, musical artistry, and commitment to performance was something that you don't find in most voice studios. Many times, my voice lessons would have multiple older singers listening and giving constructive criticism when needed. I owe a lot of what I know to the many fine singers and teachers in this voice studio. Dr. Robert Harrison's studio policy was, "If my door is unlocked, come on in and have a listen!". About 4-5 hours per week, I sat in on my peer's voice lessons and listened to him teach a diverse range of voice types. Listening and watching him teach gave me the opportunity to connect the dots to my own singing, while also giving me the strength and courage to speak up when I thought I had solid advice to give. These experiences have prepared me to help transform your sound and performance! I love getting to know my students through their art. It is especially beautiful when a hardworking student begins to understand and apply what is taught in the lesson. Most importantly, I love being able to share this music and instruction to you for my career! I feel deeply honored to work with bright and hardworking students and be able to further them along their musical path.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I hadn't really began singing until a couple months before my 17th birthday. Teachers had encouraged me to take lessons and I decided to give it a chance. Every year has been an incredible year of knowledge, growth, and opportunity. With every year also comes a deeper love and passion for what I'm doing. As a late bloomer in music, I can honestly say my path has been incredible and am excited to see where it takes me!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

As a voice teacher, I give lessons on fundamental aspects of singing while incorporating musical style and performance. Some things you can expect as a student during the voice lesson include breathing techniques, understanding of the body and how it promotes/hinders sound, vocal acoustics, resonation and phonation, beginning diction skills, music theory and history, and song interpretation.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Pursuing music as a career has its rewards and challenges. I am blessed every day to work in something that I truly love, however working in the performing arts is very subjective and many times can be difficult for emerging professionals to begin to break into the music network (whether performing, teaching, etc.) Do it because you love it.
