FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer very competitive prices. My new home designs are priced by the square foot so you will be able to calculate your costs. Average new home has run about $3500. For remodeling: basements, kitchens and baths run from $800-$1,000. Additions and significant remodels are assessed at the initial meeting and then you will be offered a flat rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If you are a local client then an initial meeting can be set. I have a lot customers that are out-state or live in other states and our first meeting is via the phone. The primary purpose is for me to be introduced to your project and for me to introduce my services to you. Our first goal is to develop some design concepts in a rough draft. With these we are ready to meet again so we can review these concepts. It's a winner when a client says that they feel I have heard them and when I have provided designs that meet their needs. Next, I want to tweak our rough drawings into the preliminary design. At this stage we can usually comunicate back and forth via the internet and exchange designs with PDF's. Once the preliminary design is complete we have sight into our final design and construction drawings. The project will develop and unfold as we start working the details. These plans are extremely important to the success of your project. They become your way of communicating what you want to all the individual people that will become involved in your project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
It seems like a lifetime ago but my education with architecture and building technology was quite varied. From state colleges to the U of M, Minnesota my education took me to many places before I concluded with my degree.
