I have been welding and repairing things since I was a kid on the farm (1980) I then went to trade school for welding and have had several welding jobs at fabricating business's.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
docks, boat lifts, snowplows, wood stoves, railings.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently had a landlord of a rental property call me with an outdoor wood stove that he said "was leaking water in the fire box, and was putting out the fire" now knowing this was going to be a messy job in the middle of winter I went there with a less than excited mood, it was cold out and I had to work inside a small area with dust, smoke and muck from the water leak. Well I approached the job with my best foot forward as it "needed to be done" put on my cover-alls and jumped in, cleaned all the ash and muck out of the fire box, stuck myself in and poked around with a flashlight looking for the leak, after 30 minutes of scraping on the firewall I found the very small pin hole and got ready to patch it. The weld took 30 seconds and the preparation before and afterwards putting everything away took an hour. I was concerned the client would focus on how long the weld took but this was not the case, He was so happy I found the leak and fixed it that he even gave me a little more than what my bill was. On the way home I thought about how apprehensive I was going out there, but it turned out to be a win/win for both of us and the client was thrilled that his home had heat again in a cold MN winter, now that is satisfying!
