John responded quickly to our request for service. He arrived on time. Unfortunately he was unable to repair my washing machine. At the first appointment, he diagnosed the problem as the motor bearings - during a 7-minute appointment - by simply listening to the machine run. He concluded that it would be more expensive to repair than it is worth and that I should use the machine until it seized up and then replace it. I paid $89 for this brief appointment. A few days later he emailed me and said he’d been doing more research on the repair specs for my particular machine and concluded that he misdiagnosed my machine and that it was not the bearings but the rotor. Said he could order the part and repair it for $225 minus the $89 service call I’d already paid. He then came out a few days later with a small box which I assume has the rotor inside. Again was at my home for around 7 minutes and again concluded that it was in fact the bearings as he initially diagnosed and there was nothing he could do. There was no charge for the second appointment. At neither appointment did he look inside the machine or take anything apart which seemed odd to me.
