FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My basic carpet install price starts at $.50 per square foot. My base price for hardwood installation starts at $1.75. My base price for vinyl installation is one dollar per square foot. My base price for tile starts at3.50/sf These are the basic prices which involve the minimal amount of work, four instance if I am installing new carpet over the existing pad and tack strip it would only be $.50 per square foot. If I have to install new pad and new tack strip there will be additional charges. But I'm very upfront with my pricing, and I'm very easy to work with! My prices aren't set in stone!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start with a brief, but detailed phone conversation. After a few questions concerning the scope, expectations, and budget, I offer a rough estimate based on the information provided, offer some material suggestions, and then I schedule an appointment! If the job is clear cut, with material onsite , I'll come out, look it over, and negotiate a price. Once a price is agreed upon, I get right to work. If material is needed, I bring out samples closest matching what was described from previous conversation, inspect , measure, and present a detailed estimate, with an itemized list of all charges of the project and a diagram with material list! One agreed upon, I get right to work! I like to have my clients shop around for a floor material that they like, and is within their budget, and get a sample they can show or message me. I compare it to the inventory of my wholesaler, and I can usually get you something similar if not the same except cheaper!!! I work from home, so I don't have the overhead of a retail store, so I can afford to sell my stuff cheap!! Besides, I'm an installer not a salesman!!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training was on the job! I would ask my father so many questions about why he did this or that, that it's a wonder how he got anything done! I have since expanded my knowledge of industry current methods and techniques! I have studied the complete " standard for installation I &II " from the the carpet and rug institute, which is the industry standard for certification with CFI certified Floorcovering Installers! I subscribe to all the trade publications, and just recently received the award for " Best Residential Carpet Installation for 2015" from FCI ( floor covering installers) magazine. A nation wide contest that I'm among the top three finalists this year as well !!
