Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I enjoy working with all my students. I personalize the lessons to each individual. One of my specialties is adult beginners. One of my adults has been with me now for seven years. Convenient southwest Minneapolis location. It's not in Edina, but it's close! Check my website for my resume. My wife Deborah teaches piano here too and together we host two recitals each year. I'm a "people person." I accompany my students at times on piano, other times on guitar. I'm love teaching and performing. I ask my students to make an audio recording of the lesson each week, and listen back. That way, you can hear yourself objectively and hear yourself improve over time. I feel I get better at what I do every year. My wife, Deborah is a fantastic piano teacher. She teaches at the same location.

Violin Lessons (for adults)

Jim Plattes is an excellent violin teacher. I am a beginning adult violin student who requires a lot of patience. He provides a comfortable environment for learning and has given me useful instruction on developing my bowing hand, holding the violin, and developing the right tone. I recommend him highly.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My rates are based on a 30, 45 or 60 minute lesson.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Phone interview. I like to find out a person's musical history. What instruments that person plays or has played. Also, find out what that person's musical goals are. We can then develop a plan to reach those goals.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

One year of Suzuki Violin Pedagogy at the U of M. Mark Bjork instructor. I studied privately with Richard Adams. Assistant Concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra. I have also studied fiddle with Vassar Clements. 30 plus years of teaching private lessons. I have performed professionally since 1974.
