FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I used Thumbtack for the first time while planning my own wedding and I was so fortunate that I found professionals who provided outstanding services and charged a fair rate. Typically with makeup artists you "Get what you pay for" but i do what i can to keep my services affordable. My prices include travel up to 50 miles, I offer pricing with and without false lash application and am happy to create "a la carte" pricing if requested.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My experience is a bit unique in that I never planned to be a makeup artist, it was an opportunity that fell into my lap years ago and I discovered that I LOVED it and I was lucky that my customers really loved the work that I did for them. I learned the basics while working for Bare Escentuals years ago but really gained technical skills while working for MAC Cosmetics. The training that I had, coupled with the sheer volume of customers with different needs on a daily basis gave me the best experience I could ever ask for. I have done makeup for weddings, all sorts of photo shoots (head shots, editorial, creative & experimental, promotional), runway shows, special occasion and every day makeup looks. Now that I am no longer doing makeup on a daily basis, I take every opportunity to be inspired, to experiment and to challenge myself as my clients ask for new, creative ways to feel beautiful.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I took a part time job with Bare Escentuals 8 years ago, when swirling, tapping and buffing was the hottest thing on the market. I became a Business Manager for BE and then moved on to be an Assistant Manager and then Manager for MAC Cosmetics, all at Nordstrom at the Mall of America. Those experiences were followed by a promotion to Beauty Department Manager for Nordstrom where I coached and trained a team of 80 beauty professionals and supported 37 beauty brands. I have a passion for service, artistry and people! I recently left the retail industry to work for Children's Hospitals of Minnesota, which has allowed me so much more time and flexibility in pursuing my freelance artistry.
