I'm an old geezer (over 70) who, for a long time, had wanted to learn to play the acoustic guitar (folk and blues) but never made the time. When I finally got the time, I looked around for someone who had a great attitude and and an open mind about taking on someone my age, musical knowledge (0), and native talent (uh.....minimal shall we say). Brian turned out to be the perfect man for the job. He's got a great sense of humor, is very sensitive to my uncertainties as I try to master the complicated (at least to me) fretwork, and blessedly, has the patience of Job. In the few months of instruction I've had with him, I've learned a ton and it's been a hell of a lot of fun to boot. I'm looking forward to extending this gig for as long as can. Lanse

My daughter started guitar lessons with Brian over a year ago and wow, it's been great to see her take lessons from someone who really knows how to teach. And I do mean teach! Brian came that first day with personalized lesson plans and an outgoing personality that shines. Lessons at our house sounded like so much fun that my other daughter decided she was missing out, so we happily signed her up too! Not only does Brian know how to teach an organized quality program, (with so many different options, my kids never get bored), but he has the kind of warm personality that encourages and inspires my children. Once you meet Brian you'll see what I mean. He is flexible, caring, and knowledgeable. If you value music in your child's life and want your kid to have fun learning you couldn't ask for a better teacher. Brian is outstanding in every way. A Very Happy Mom!

I work as a film composer and conductor and am always benefiting from being a student of others. Brian Lenz has opened my eyes to a new path in music. He can teach anyone! Soundcloud.com/adamconrad

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my students take private instruction to develop their personal skills of playing an instrument (or singing). Once the basics are in place I help students compose and find their creative voice. Once students are ready, I help them find musical ensembles or performance venues to share their skills with others.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Consider what you need from a teacher. Do you need someone who will provide structure or just new ideas? Opportunities or just instruction? A more personalized approach or more standardized? Once you know what you need, find a teacher who can suit your exact needs.
