Amy Cusick Dog Walking and Pet Sitting

Introduction: I started dog walking/pet sitting as my only and full time job in January 2001. I started out working for a dog walking service in Massachusetts and through the connections there, I started pet/house sitting about the same time. I moved to Minnesota in Dec 2007 when my boyfriend moved back here, and I have been fully self employed since moving here. So I have been a dog walker/pet sitter for over 20 years. The majority of my business is walking dogs, but I also do dog sitting in my home during the warmer months. I have a recurring house sitting gig that generally runs from early November to early April, but outside of that time frame, I am free to care for dogs in our home. My significant other often takes the winter overflow if you are interested in working with him. I prefer that dog sitting clients be current dog walking clients so that I know more about their personality, energy levels, ability to get along with others, etc.. Most of my dog walks are group walks. I am not a dog trainer, so this isn't meant to train your dog, but it is meant to allow them to socialize. I prefer to take very few risks with the dogs that I accept into the group, so it is important that your dog get along well with other dogs. They should be able to ride in a van with other dogs in a friendly way as well. I also do cat sitting visits. That involves feeding, watering, scooping litter, playing with playful cats, brushing cats if they enjoy that, bringing in mail, etc..
