FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For most work, yes. My standard rate is $100/hr for event work, which includes 50 final, polished images per hour. I have four main packages for portrait work. See my Web site for details. For special assignments, contact me for a quote.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new customer contacts me, I listen closely to their needs. Usually I have a few questions, which help guide the conversation and focus the project. When we have agreed on the client's visual goals, we proceed to schedule a shoot, or multiple shoots, in the case of say, a more broad corporate project. Day of, I arrive promptly and well-prepared to do the work I love to do. I am constantly aware of my surroundings, visually and mindfully, which helps me to "be there" for the moments that tell the story. After the shoot, we review the images and the client chooses their favorites. Then, I hit the digital darkroom and edit like the dickens so that you can have your photographs within 24-48 hours! I can deliver your images on CD, via Google Drive, flash drive, or any such media. I am very flexible in all aspects of my workflow, and more than willing to work with you to meet your needs. Every project is different, and thus requires attention, diligence, and flexibility.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 2006, I was profoundly fortunate to have met and studied with Minnesota photographer Mark Trockman. To this day, I hear his voice in my head every time I embark on an assignment: "Shoot sharp. F8 and be there." In 2008 I began pursuing a formal education in Visual Journalism, and earned a B.A. from the U of MN's School of Journalism. All of this, however significant, pales in comparison to the lessons I have learned over the last 10 years in the field. Each assignment is a new challenge. Each shutter click is a new moment that has never been and will never be again.
