I have liked to sing for decades. I recently started working with Angela for my first voice lessons. She obviously is knowledgeable about the anatomy of voice production. She is working first to give me the understanding of what goes into a quality voice that people want to listen to, by instruction, exercises and personal feedback from her. This is just what I'm looking for in a teacher.Jun 12, 2018Verified
My son has only had one lesson so far, but I really appreciate how professional and knowledgeable Angela is. She has worked to understand his unique needs and showed a great deal of patience.Apr 23, 2018Verified
Angela took me from zero expereince, in my 40'a no less, to singing for 5 years with Vocalessence and the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company. She understands that like any instrument the voice requires consistent and continual guided practice. I still use many of her exercises even though I have moved to Phoenix and, at 58, study with new teachers. She gave me a strong platform to continue to grow my voice and it is now close to 20 years and I credit her for helping me along this path. Thanks Angela!Apr 2, 2018
My teenage daughter began voice lessons 2 years ago and almost immediately saw improvement with tone, breath control and musicality. She has gained almost an octave in her range. Angela has supported her outside of lessons by attending her school vocal events and has been very encouraging.Apr 20, 2018
My daughter has taken vocal lessons from TC Vocal Arts for 2 years. Within a month of starting lessons, she had noticeable vocal growth. Over time she has expanded her range almost a full octave, as well as improving intonation and sight reading. Angela has been very supportive, including attending some of my daughter's other vocal performances and has been easy to work with for scheduling.Mar 21, 2018

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We will sing through some vocal exercises (vocalise), and a song or two to relax and let your voice show it's current characteristics. You can bring music to sing from, which I can accompany, or you can sing something you know a capella. We will see what your current habits are for breathing, pitch etc., discuss past singing experience, (even if it's just in the shower) and any problems with your voice that you might have questions about. I will respond with suggestions, information and what I feel would be the best approach moving forward with lessons. This isn't a 'test', just a fun time to meet each other and be able to hear your voice and have a personal connection we can build on as we work together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I began early music study at the age of five, at the MacPhail School of Music in piano and dance, flute and voice, and then accordion with the Traficante Accordion School. I also taught myself some simple guitar playing to accompany my singing, and later studied in the Music and Theatre programs at the University of Minnesota. I sang in the Opera Theatre, and also worked as technical assistant for the opera productions and scene shop. I also sang country music with my father who was a professional musician and singer. I have worked as a Music Director, vocal coach and 'show' pianist for Theatre in a Nutshell, Vocal Arts Players, Apple Valley High School, Normandale Community College, MN Showboat, Theatre in the Round, and seven seasons with the Stagecoach Opera House to name a few. I have taught voice in the past at Minneapolis Technical College, Bloomington School of Music, my private studio and through my Musical Theatre directing career. In my personal vocal performing I was involved in many recitals, community activities and musical theatre productions. Voice technique, healthy production/performance have always been a strong part of my teaching career spanning several years. I have played piano with the Edelweiss ensemble for eight years, my own studio activities, and accompanied dozens of singers, recitals, and community and private events.
