Mr. Mackey arrived without delay to complete the task of snow removal from my driveway and sidewalk (corner lot). He was well equipped for the job and got it done without issues. A job well done. This was my first experience but it is already clear that he is a family man with high standards. His son was a helpful partner today and I assume their cheerful dog came, too, for moral support and/or quality assurance. I recommend everyone to hire Mr. Mackey for their snow removal.

Ali from At Home Pet Care came into our home twice a day to care for our dog and two cats. She had to give medicine to the dog, feed the animals, walk the dog and bring in the mail. She left notes every day, left the kitchen quite clean and our animals were in great shape when we returned. One of the cats is pretty skittish and previous times, we have heard that the pet sitter hasn't seen much of him. Ali was able to entice Bilbo out of hiding and even pet him - I was surprised and grateful that she took the time to work at that. We are thrilled with At Home Pet Care's service and recommend them highly!

Cori and her crew have been walking our dog, Hank, for almost 5 years. They are wonderful--affectionate with him, always on the lookout for any issues he may have and letting us know, timely and dependable. We couldn't be more pleased.

Tom is an amazing and caring man. He has treated Cooper, our pup as his own and I look forward to continue using his services when he returns in the Spring. He listens to all my concerns and take genuine concern in the happiness and health of our puppy! He was available on short notice and fairly priced.

David Clasen helps care for my dogs. Beau, an older Pomeranian, and Winston, a Yorkie. Winston immediately loved David. But, Beau is distrustful of most people and refuses to go to them. David was very patient with Beau and allowed Beau time to get used to him. I thought it would take several visits but within 20 minutes, Beau came up to David and cautiously sniffed him. David kept still and allowed Beau to get comfortable on his own terms. David quickly became one of Beau's "pack" and Beau loves being with him. I appreciate that David treats both dogs differently according to their personality. I completely trust both dogs' care with David, knowing he is taking excellent care of them.

    About

Hi, there! Animals are my passion and my career. I have my degree in animal science with specialization in nutrition, health, and animal behavior/training from the University of Minnesota. I have worked at a vet clinic for three years during college. I have experienced working at PetSmart for over a year as a groomer and in sales in guiding new pet parents along their exciting new journey. I also gained experience in caring for reptiles, avian animals, and small mammals for those clients looking for care for other pets at home. During my last two years in high school, I worked at a pet resort and excelled in daycare and boarding services. I just graduated from college and have a lot of energy and TLC to give to your pet, and I hope you consider me for your next pet sitter. Please feel free to text/call my cell, or contact me via my email as well; I will return your call/email very promptly. I am available overnights and have a very flexible schedule.

    About

With humane, science-based training methods, we will decide what you want your dog to do instead of focusing on what you don't want him doing. I am committed to using only humane, science-based training methods. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to enjoy the dog you already love. Why use pain or fear-based methods when there are other options? When I work with a dog I go at their pace, watch for a goofy smile and wait for the dog to let me know when he is having fun. I hope to someday see the dog training industry say goodbye to scary and painful training tactics.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
