Luke is absolutely right. We were late as we relied on a car service to get us to his event from another one. It was a three event day!! Our driver did not understand Brian's prompting to not rely exclusively on GPS. His understanding was not that good. I forgot the mint leaves for mint juleps!! Unforgiveable. Food was offered. Perhaps it was not ptofessional to accept. But every function that involves food has brought about an insistence that we have something. Always in the latter part of the event. That was the case here. And yes we sampled some of our beverage offerings. We always do and will. Especially if it is something that we have not had before. We brought our own non -alcoholic beverages and drank far more of these as our work area was very warm and we eventually had to use the stove.We stayed longer, washed plastic cups, cleaned up as the event was well attended. More guests than the request stated if l am not mistaken. Went with our own recipe and it worked. We brought beverages and wine from our first event and offered it to the guests as an alternative to mint juleps. They loved it!! But being late is inexcuseable. Would have been on time had there not been construction in the east metro, I had not forgotten the mint leaves, the driver had not relied exclusively on GPS and overshot our exit and turn. Ran out of mint simple syrup even though we were assured that a half gallpn would be plenty. Brought a gallon, created another half gallon there. So extra mint was needed and going back for it was the right decision. My partner truly saved the day. He however heard a guest say that "we talked too much." I am therefore thankful that Luke looked positively upon our interactions with his guests. Had we got there on time, this would have no doubt been a better experience for our host. His generosity and the wonderful people at his Derby party made it a good experience for us!
