FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing stonework can be very simple.USUALLY I CAN DO AN ESTIMATE WITHIN AN HOUR OF RECEIVING YOUR PICTURES!. That being said it sometimes is not simple. Every different style of stone takes a different amount of time to install. So as just a veneer it is usually a process of building a sample panel and basing a bid on that. Often an estimate can be provided from an oral description of a project and a definitive bid can be made from architects drawings and a site visit. Other things that complicate bidding are: Scaffolding, heating in the winter, any stonework that has structural or weight bearing requirements and general job site conditions. Access and workspace can change a bid by 75% or more. For example ten square feet of stone on your house at 6" to 45" in height is vastly different than ten square feet on the outer edge of your sixth story chimney. It can take longer to get the ten square feet of stone onto the roof than it would to lay the same stone in the driveway.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to be open about expectations and I like everyone to be on the same page about what, when and how we are going about the job. Whatever it takes to make every one happy I am willing to try! If you don't like my first idea, give me some counter ideas/ counter offers etc. I like to make ends meet, but if I'm going to sit at home a Saturday and make 0$ I'd rather be doing a job and making someone happy. I rarely say no to a counter offer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly kept on the cutting edge of my field by changing requirements in engineering and design. Every year the trade changes a little bit to better meet weathering and stability needs. Research and education are very important to me.
