I used on call for moving services. The move went smoothly, the 2 on call guys never stopped moving!! From the moment they arrived they were friendly courteous and very polite, showed genuine concern for the safety of my furniture and packed it very well. They took my direction as not everything in the house was mine and being moved. Once we arrived at the new location they moved FAST! I just stood at the door way and told them were the boxes and furniture when!! I would 100 percent recommend their services, even the office staff was friendly and knowledgeable! If you need help with ANYTHING give this company a call!!! I know I would again!!

I have been using Augusta Greens since late 5/2015 for lawn mowing and trimming and have been very pleased with the speed and quality of their service. They have a smaller riding mower that allows them to get in & work in our fenced-in backyard. Sometimes they have showed up a bit late - around 9pm but usually their working hours are fine. My only concern has been receiving timely bills and communication with the owner about billing. If that can be resolved they will be a keeper.

Aaron is incredibly professional, prompt and personable. We were unable to use his services due to unforeseen circumstances that had nothing to do with him. I’m really bummed we were unable to go through his company - our property manager had a specific vendor we had to use. I highly recommend Aaron.

Greg Carlson at Gigantous Inc. did a really nice job refinishing a floor for us. He stayed extra late through unanticipated difficulties with the floor and completed the job in very short order to meet a furniture delivery deadline. He is great about keeping up with communications and leaving the work area clean, too. Greg also has both a good sense of fairness and a strong commitment to doing a quality job and shows a desire to meet his customer's expectations. He was knowledgeable in discussing options and flexible in carrying these out. When he is on-site he really works hard. We have had two other services refinish floors for us previously and Greg's work is by far the nicest of the 3 we have had done. I would invite him back for future jobs anytime. By the way, he seems to be pretty knowledgeable about other general home work, too.

We have used Jared Nelson and his crew from Veteran Lawn Service for both lawn maintenance in the summer and for snow plowing in the winter. Exceptional service, affordable and always going one step above the contracted service. I highly recommend Jared and his crew and take the time to meet them, as they are all great individuals.

Finally found someone that can complete projects and provide consultation for others. Mick showed up on time, was creative in making it work, and taught me along the way. Will be soliciting his services again, no doubt. Good work like this is hard to find. Highly recommend Mick for any project.

This is a Handyman Reference for Richard (Rick) Toboz. I have known Rick of nearly 30 years. His expertise in home ownership/handyman repair rivals general contractors. Neighbors, including me, seek his input and sometimes assistance, when tackling home projects. He has the tools and knowledge to fix/repair/build virtually any home project. And I will add he does not use a “that’s good enough” phrase – his projects are ALL completed with an excellent finished touch. I have consulted him on a few projects and would not hesitate to consult nor use him on any future home improvements

Doug's work has been fantastic. He has patiently answered all of out questions and helped us decide based upon our needs. We needed to replace our deck and decided to expand it as well as go minimum maintenance. We also have two dogs who are home and Doug kept the yard picked up throughout the whole project to make it safe for the dogs. He communicated well to make sure there were no issues with the dogs getting out through an open gate. He helped us pick a product that would hold up to the dogs. Kept the stairway blocked off to keep the dogs from getting in trouble. I will hire him again for any additional projects we may have.

Mr. Golubowicz performed a number of repairs around my house, including plumbing and electrical. He also did seasonal maintenance, such as draining/shutting down my hot tub, changing furnace filters, etc. He was punctual, polite and professional. He corrected a few repairs done by less capable contractors. His quality of work was exceptional.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a property management company do?

Property management companies manage the rental of residential homes, apartments, condos, commercial spaces and retail spaces. Property managers can oversee just a single unit or many properties, whether those sites are inhabited full-time or are vacation rentals. A property management company helps a property owner or landlord find tenants; collects rent; takes care of accounting, property maintenance and repairs; handles on-site management; and manages vacation rental check-in and checkout tasks. Although many property owners or landlords successfully manage their own rental real estate, a property management company can help you handle tenant issues and maintenance problems, especially if you are not located in the same city or state. Most property management companies deal with tenants directly, and their tasks include:

        • Marketing the rental property
        • Collecting rent
        • Handling repair problems
        • Responding to tenant complaints
        • Evicting tenants

A property management company may be a good choice for property owners who have several investment properties, live far away from the rental property, or don’t have time for hands-on management.

How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

        • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
        • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
          • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
        • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

        What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor. Why is property management important?

A property management company can be a landlord’s greatest asset. As a neutral third party, the property manager handles the day-to-day operations of a real estate investment, from a single vacation home to a large apartment building or several rental properties. A property management company can be especially helpful to landlords who own several units and can’t manage each of them individually, or those who live too far from their investment properties to meet with renters and oversee maintenance. Property management is particularly important if your rentals are part of an affordable housing program. To receive financial assistance from the government, the landlord must comply with a complicated set of rules; property management companies should have both experience and expertise in complying with the rules specific to each housing program.

How much does a handyman charge?

The national average rate for handyman jobs is $90-$160. A handyman performs general maintenance and repairs for residential and commercial properties. A handyman may charge a flat fee for standard services that take a predictable amount of time, such as installing a new appliance, as well as an hourly rate for larger projects such as digging out and replacing a rotted fence post. A cost-saving strategy when hiring a handyman is to bundle all the tasks you want them to do into one visit to make the most of any minimum service fee. Hourly rates for a handyman can average $50-$100 per hour. Pricing will depend on skill and experience required for the job, as well as regional labor rates. Here are a few examples of average handyman flat rates.

        • Attic ladder replacement: $150.
        • Toilet replacement: $75.
        • Ceiling fan and light fixtures: $75.
        • Faucet replacement: $125.
        • Garbage disposal: $75.
