But he has definitely been the most responsive and reliable from all the other professionals that I dealt with on thumbtack. Two of the four Professionals came out and told me they would get estimates with a week and its now about a month later and I haven't heard back from either, even after following up with them. Doug certainly has been responsive, he gives fair bids, and has been on time with everything he told me. I have yet to see the finished work, so I shall update this review once it is done. Lots of Home projects to be completed though. 1-15-2021 Doug is nearly complete now, I initially hired him for my Bathroom remodel. It was excellent work. I decided to hire for all my home trim work, base board, molding Kitchen Crown molding, I had him replace all my doors within the house and all the surrounding Trim. I also hired him to replace my Ceramic Tile kitchen floor with LVP. All of it was excellent work. He took out the old flooring and replaced with some really nice LVP and added new shoe trim throughout the kitchen. I have about 3 or 4 other projects I will be doing here within the year. I will definitely be going to back to Doug if he is available. I highly recommend him."See more

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Beware of This Company – Our Experience Was a Disaster. Do not trust the initial impression. We hired Briggs and Nins in May 2024 to finish our basement. The project was supposed to be done by August but dragged into February 2025 before we had to fire them due to six months of delays. Initially Anton was professional, communicative, and eager to accommodate our specific needs. However, once we made the third payment (95% of the total cost), everything changed. Work slowed down quite a bit. On many occasions they wouldn’t do work at all or only worked one day a week. Communication became difficult, getting responses about deadlines required multiple follow-ups. His excuses for delays were often lies. For example, he claimed our flooring materials were delayed due to a port strike, but when we checked with the supplier, they confirmed their supplies and orders were not affected by the strike. Beyond the delays, the quality of work became quite poor as the work extremely slowly progressed and the communication with Anton was very challenging. These are some examples: - When covering the sewer line, Anton did a terrible job with the concrete - it was uneven with rough surface and full of bumps. When it was time to install flooring on top of it, the crew attempted to put in cardboard boxes underneath the flooring to kind of level the flooring out! That was extremely unprofessional and deceptive. We worked with many contractors for many jobs for our home, not once we saw such a deceptive practice and unprofessionalism. When my wife pointed it out, he not only dismissed her concerns initially, but eventually started screaming at her. They basically got into a shouting match. I believe there are plenty of people who would call the police in that situation. Even after an attempt to grind the flooring, the uneven surface remained in the kitchen and bathroom and his crew installed the bathroom flooring material over the uneven surface. So, we have to tear out the bathroom flooring and level the subfloor, so we can install the flooring in a way that water won’t seep through in the middle of bathroom flooring. - He made decisions without consulting us, and his subcontractors were told to disregard our requests. - Big piles construction waste and debris was left outside our home for several months at times instead of being properly disposed of in a timely manner. - He does not pay his subcontractors timely or fully. One of his subcontractors showed up at our house one day and warned us that they would place a mechanic’s lien on our house because Anton hadn’t paid them fully. Anton eventually paid him after we threatened with a legal action. The delays caused significant inconvenience and derailed our plans for the basement. It’s been over a year since we started this project, we still haven’t used our basement and there’s more work to be done: bath tiles are not finished, bath fixtures are not installed, toilet and vanity is not hooked up, kitchenette plumbing is not hooked up, bathroom flooring needs to be re-done, bedroom closets don’t have shelving, the crew damaged our window screens with paint etc., top of doors were not fully finished etc. We regret trusting this company, especially since we had other competitive offers we could have accepted instead. We strongly advise against hiring Briggs and Nins. Proceed with extreme caution, and do your due diligence before hiring them. Disclaimer: This review is specifically about Anton and our direct experience with him. It does not reflect on the sub-contractors he hired, as it appears that they were also negatively impacted by his poor management.
